While Tanaka is relatable, it’s so painful watching him blame all of his self-created problems on outside factors. You bought an eraser for 100,000 yen? Blame it on the kid with better erasers. Failing at your job? Blame your need to beat ditch-11 (whose identity is something we hopefully get to learn)! It’s even sadder knowing that this addiction of his is probably a by-product of the abuse he suffered as a child.

Odd Taxi is indeed an underrated masterpiece. If you compare to other furry anime (i.e. Beastars and BNA), this one really did toppled the two out of the top spot. I mean consider this. None of the “animal” characters actually display some sort of animal instincts except for Hajime Tanaka. Speaking of him, he’s my favorite character asides from Odokawa and Dobu not primarily because of his character design nor his character at all. He’s very much groundbreaking. As a gacha player, I could really connect to his commentary touching upon addiction, satisfaction, competition and social status.

Desperation to the point of stupidity is never attractive. Like yikes, I've known some of these guys. They don't treat girls like people, and they'll go for absolutely anyone. So no girl they hit on feels like a person. Just an object they're trying to win to make themselves feel better. They think girls aren't lonely too. They don't figure out ways to overcome it. Those kinds of guys deserve to be alone, they're awful.

I love hearing praise for Oddtaxi, but I must say, I disagree with the idea that Oddtaxi is "too real". If anything, that claim alone defeats the message the show is trying to tell us. Oddtaxi is a show about characters who are stuck in their own personal fantasies. Characters who bite off more than they can chew, who try to escape from harsh realities, or who have obsessions that drown out their own wellbeing. All problems that reflect people in real life. Oddtaxi isn't "too real". If anything, we as humans aren't real enough. We're all stuck in our own fantasies, and this show is a harsh slap in the face telling us to wake up and be a little more self conscious. That's the message I got from it at least. (BTW not hating on your video, just sharing my interpretation)

OH MY GOD!!!! This is the BEST Analysis I have seen or even expected for ODDTAXI, Thank you!!! Also, I agree with you regarding that ODDTAXI deserves to be considered Anime of the Year. For me personally, Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song, ODDTAXI, and Attack on Titan: The Final Season are (Equally) The Best Animes of The Year 2021. And I know that I should Choose 1 of them..... I did thought of that too but i think he isnt really that much of a gamer or knowledgeable about the game he is playing enough to think of an exploitable glitch. I mean he is the embodiment of a pay to play player, almost all of his succes just after he he started to get obsessed in the paid draw is just money. Not hard work in terms of playing the actual game, like he only cares about the super rare dodo bird, not the game itself. Thats why the moment he knew that his dodo bird got glitched and unrolled from the game, he barely cant think straight. I mean it is clearly shown in the show, cause again, if he was knowledgeable enough or a hardcore gamer, he would instantly think of ways he can get that dodo back, including bugs or exploits. So yeah, he is indeed very realistic for me

I think your analysis of shibi..the warthog lol is a bit unfinished, he strikes me more as some who has this for lack a better word diluated sense of what real comedy is and in a way looks down on his partner for bending to what other people want he qctually just isn't obsessed with making it and doesnt have a false sense of self or a huge ego so people naturally started to like him and that's why he got popular and warthog didn't he had this wrapped sense of what it means to be a comedian or a entertainer when all that stuff is meaningless if don't find acceptance wheter you make it big or not , whatever the outcome you need to be happy with who you are and what life gave you.
