You can see during the video a few times dslyecxi will often leave groups of enemies for the infantry, or only kills some of them. We try to use ROEs such as "no explosives in compound" or high explosives on infantry but with the 30mm being the smallest thing to use, those rules change. Short answer, force multipliers are generally used with restraint.

That's fair enough, I don't feel the same way but we each have our own opinions. To me the workshop in particular seems like a great platform for modders, it's a unified space that gives them a chance to show off their mods to people who might otherwise never use them. As for games not being playable without a client, I don't mind that, but I can understand why a lot of people do.

Thanks I enjoyed that :). I think mortars are extremely fun to use, and mortar support is an aspect that is very underused in Arma 2 (due to the difficulty of operation perhaps).

They are kind of standardized. Once in a while they have changed them, but I think once you use them enough times, it becomes easy to recognize, so they probably stick with those call signs. I do love that the Little Birds are angels and the Harrier is Pavement :)

Usual Shacktac call sign for Littlebirds are Angel/Reaper. Also stated at the beginning of the video.

Agreed. Just because it was not a picture perfect emergency landing does not mean anything. He was able to get them on the ground in one piece so that they could repair and rearm to get back into the fight. That is what counts.

that was an excellent break maneuver when y'all took the autocannon fire not to mention pretty good reporting to cmd. Out of curiousity, whenever Kiowas or Apache's fired hellfires I have always heard it called "rifle" or "rifle away?" different in the Corps?

As far as I know, workshop is an option and mods will still be able to be distributed and installed manually. Along side of that, 3rd party software will almost certainly always support Arma.

Hard to tell since there isn't much contrast in the IR modes but I am guessing it is either as you mentioned or he is putting it into a hover while Dslyecxi puts rounds down range.

the Cobra was designed and built around the entire drivetrain assembly of the UH-1 Huey. (hence the Cobra being the AH-1) i believe only the Marine Corps flies the Cobra still although their current model is the Super Cobra. Apache was designed for the US Army to replace the Cobra. Apache has laser guided Hellfires. Cobra had optically guided TOW missiles. sensors for dectecing are different as well. the Apache being way more modern at introduciton than the Cobra was at the time.

Dslyecxi would you make a video in which you present a tactical plan for a mission detailly and the back-up plans at the beginig (probably as an infantry squad leader). I mean the path to the objectives, ROE and other behavior at the objective and so on. And then we could see what went according to the plan and what not and how you had to adjust to the situation (like how the first bullet shot changed the plan)...

stupid question about the mission itself. when Shacktac does missions like this are most enemy AI spawned in at mission start or do they appear later? i ask because i was watching an Apache video from another youtuber but the enemy squads were spawning in only once the convoy they were escorting seemed to get within 1000 meters or so regardless of how close the Apache was.

If my quick Google search is to believed they can withstand up to 23mm fire in certain areas, namely around the cockpit and vital components. However, there is always a chance of hitting an un-armored area such as the base of the main rotor or the tail rotor (anti-torque rotor) which cannot be armored obviously. Also have to keep in mind that ARMA is not full sim so it's survivability will not be 100% accurate.

How do you feel about balancing CAS vs INF gameplay. As CAS or any other supports(IFVs and MBTs,for example) will probably do most of the shooting if left unregulated. How do you keep infantry fun when having for example an Apache doing all the shooting.?

You also need the "Operation Arrowhead" add on. Check out "Play with Six" for adding mods etc.. You'll also need TeamSpeak for the voice comms. above all.. enjoy!

It seems highly unlikely that the vehicle in question would have survived a direct hit like that. Seemingly unscathed, too. So it was either a miss or a bug of some sort, causing a premature airburst. The "visual evidence" is the explosion very obviously in FRONT of the AAA, from your perspective, and then the damn thing shooting at you.

Yeah I thought that might be the case, it's often the way, I think that the workshop is a great addition myself. But each to their own I guess, as dslyecxi said to someone else just a second ago, if modders leave for stupid reasons like that then others will step up to take over.

Aircraft need to be light, so there are limits to how much armor it can carry,even with modern material. Certain parts are designed to survive a 23mm hit and stay airworthy enough to return home, that is often misinterpreted into the helicopter cant be harmed by those weapons. No airplane can be armored to be immune to weaponfire, even riflecalibre fire would eventually down such a helicopter if enough rounds hit it. Its not a tank,stuff doesnt just bounce of its hull.

Why on earth would they say that? They know that they can still distribute mods traditionally through sites like Armaholic, right? The Workshop is just another option, which in my opinion I prefer to use. I'm sure there will also be an alternate launcher available too, such as the SIX Launcher that is available for Arma 2.

Make a tutorial of how to set up the Track IR 5 properly, I am having HEAPS of trouble enjoying it as an infantry unit; go to shoot a player close quarters, and I can't line my screen and gun up quick enough (And no the f12 key or w/e you set it to should NEED to be what you do before every engagement)

Stable as in not to fast. in a straight line at a constand speed. so the gunner can compensate easy. You can see the speed and height of the chopper at the top of the screen, And you do not see the radar turning.
