This should have been the series, that Hypno-Disc and Razer faced off, but we never got to see the ultimate battle of robot combat, due to Bigger-Brother's upset.

I think they both had an unspoken agreement to only pit those two together in a final on the basis that both robots were essentially a delivery system for their respective super weapon. If one had disarmed the other, we would have been forced to watch a robot like Chaos, Firestorm or Tornado fight a 40kg box with poor traction and no means of defending itself, which would've been pretty sad! I think X-terminator 3 and Typhoon had a similar arrangement which, if you've seen their battle, you'll understand why!

Austin Garber Man.....when Robot Wars disappeared, we lost the chance for so many good rematches. In series 3 grand final... Hypno disc vs Chaos 2.... Hypno disc didn't have a self righter back then... and it wasn't running properly, radio reception was bad. Chaos 2 won the battle with 1 flip. Very disappointing. Series 4 comes round, Hypno disc has added a self righting arm... but they never got that rematch with chaos 2.

I dislike that the house robots freed the immobilized Razer. It also robbed us of the ultimate showdown between Hypno-Disc and Razer.

The reason Razer was freed from the angle grinder is because the angle grinders and the flame grilles aren't supposed to trap robots in place. That's a rule that applies with all robots - not just Razer. If any of those hazards causes damage that _results_ in immobility, fair enough. But the recipient still needs to be separated from the hazard to see if that's the case, and it clearly wasn't with Razer.

I dislike the interference but I am glad razer went through because firestorm Vs bigger brother would have been a snoozfest. Two robots that hardly functioned crawling around and given that firestorms flipper was knackered, it would have only taken one flip so it'd be over quickly and be super anticlimactic although razer v Hypno disc would be entertaining

Thats my favourite fight across the whole series usually a close judges decision means neither made much impact but that was intense Razer punturing the ram, Firestorm pushing them across the pit three times Razer seeming to have broken down, and it was great to see Razer almost lose a fight without any external influences such as breaking down or additional frames being added on

Andrew Thompson On top of that it can easily be found by typing in "Battle Bots 2015" in the search bar. I just hate it when someone asks for someone's help when they can easily do it themselves if they just take some initiative and be a little independent. Too many people are eating out of a silver spoon these days and they are the ones that will die young. The way to fix that is being a dick to people who ask stupid questions, or they'll never learn. Firestorm was always a beast. Took all that punishment and kept coming. I’d say it’s the best robot to never win a championship in the “old era” of robot combat.

Not really. Firestorm came back really strongly, and though it did eventually lose out on damage it dominated the fight on aggression, from what I've heard it was the closest battle in Robot Wars ever.

Yes they should make something like this again. It was great, would still be good, for morale. Though I suspect there would be nothing like the original (and best) especially the "tired old thing" sort of quotes and referring to Firestorm commentary from Jonathan Pearce, in this episode. Well done mate! Maybe not again, though, as we do now live in a kind of 'virtual' world.

given that razer took firestorms flipper out of commission for this fight and the play off with hypno, what would have been quite funny is if firestorm got given this decision, and had to face bigger brother. going into the fight for the title against one of the best flippers around, and its the only time they have no srimech lol. Bit of poetic irony to be found there i think .

If you look closely at 1:54, you'll notice that Razer actually managed to crumple one of the cylinders under Firestorm's flipper. That's why the flipper was stuck open and possibly for the rest of the battle. I gotta give Firestorm credit for the fight they managed to put up without their flipper.

I wasn't shocked that Razer won. I was shocked though that Firestorm put up one helluva fight against it. Half the house robots, if any would stand up against that monster. I wonder if Razer didn't cut Firestorm in half because of mechanical issues? Or perhaps just being good sports?

hot take: I think Firestorm outdone Razer on control and aggression. Razer did deserve the win from sheer damage alone (and possibly style), but firestorm was the one really in control of the match. Because its rear had high clearance, it maintained full pushing power even when ramped up on Razer. It directed Razer where it wanted to go, not visa versa, and Razer were barely able to save themselves from the pit :P

I can't remember Firestorm's anti-Razor gear, but I can recall Tornado with their anti-Razor steel frame, and the Razer team were pissed!

Battle bots had robots that were just made to destroy things, where as robot wars robots were far better engineered and designed more clever and versatile. Plus the format and show of the programme was just so much more stylish

Cave Lombax I'm sure biohazard is the most versatile robot on the heavyweight class between both robot wars and battlebots. I don't even think razer could take it. Razer lost to tazbot.

Im pretty sure Razer had a 9 ton crush and not a 3 ton

It's generated at 9 tons of force, but when the force reaches the beak it only delivers 3 tons for some reason. There are some explanations on the internet if you need it.

Alexthehuman2 The owners of Razer explained it pretty good... imagine a pair of pliers/cutters. The prongs of the handle are really wide so you can generated a high amount of crush at the smaller metal end. Razer is like a reversed version of a pair of pliers/cutters. Razor's hydraulic system is capable of 9 tonnes of pressure, but because of the design of the arm opening so wide, this "dials down" the crushing force to just 3 tonnes at the tip.

Firestorm was very aggressive, but Razer caused a lot of damage and that carries the most weight in scoring, plus it was fairly aggressive, stylish and well controlled. I'm not sure how voting against the robot that has taken more damage in a close fight makes the Judges homosexual?

How did Firestorm get damaged? I don't remember it taking damage from Hypno-Disc but I remember it conking out after the first hit and when they were against Pussycat the blade did no damage at all

I can't remember the specific damage they suffered against Hypno-Disc in the semis, but they hadn't repaired the damage they took in the heats, which resulted in them being knocked out in just one hit. Here, Razer managed to crumple one of the steel rams that pushed the flipper forward, which caused it to be jammed open for the rest of the battle, despite Razer trying to push it back into place afterwards. Gotta give them credit for managing to put up this sort of fight against Razer though. When they met in the Extreme All-Stars semi-finals, it was a different story.
