Thank you for this video. This was exactly what needed to be done to repair our Crazy Cart. I used 14 gauge wire and secured it in two places with zip ties so that they wouldn't catch on anything as the steering wheel is turned. Overall, this is a fairly easy repair job and now my boys are ready to go drifting again.

Hello is there a way to tel that it’s messed up or no because I really don’t want to take it off just to find out it’s not the problem i have everything set brand new batteries wired everything and only the light turns on was it the same for you ?
@TheRenderQ3 жыл бұрын
The only way I was able to tell if the wire was shorted out was to stretch it out so I could see the wire inside. Otherwise the spring-like cover blocks the view of the main power wire. The only way I was able to get it off was to cut the wire and slide it off. Even if you cut the power wire it’s easy to join them back together with some wire nuts. It’s been a long time since I repaired mine but my Crazy Cart had intermittent throttle control. But I knew it was affected by how the steering wheel was turned. When I saw the power wire tied to the steering column I pretty much knew the wire was probably shorted out. Hope you get the issue figured out! Thanks for watching!

I got the wire off an old set of under cabinet lights that I no longer used. You can use almost any wire. Speaker wire will work if you have some. Just look in your garage maybe? The connectors are standard electrical screw type connectors I have lying around. If you don’t have any you could just twist the wires together and use electrical tape to cover up the bare wire. How do I remove the spring coil? If the wires are not broken inside of it, does that mean the steering isn't the issue? Do I need to cut the wire inside it myself?
@TheRenderQ5 жыл бұрын
You probably won't be able to remove the spring coil if the wires aren't broken inside. I'd carefully inspect the wire inside the coil but it's not super easy. I think I had to stretch the wire coil along the wire to see what was going on inside. But I did have to cut the wire to get the coil off. The wire in my Crazy Cart wasn't separated but there definitely was a short in it. So I stretched the coil enough so I could cut the electrical wire inside. Then of course the spring coil is easy to slip off. So even if the insulation on the electrical wire is intact the metal wiring inside might have a short in it. I could tell there was one part of the wire that looked like it had a lot of bending in it so I was pretty sure that was where the electrical short was located. I hope you're able to get your Crazy Cart running again!

So that fixed the clicking sound?
@TheRenderQ2 жыл бұрын
I don’t remember a clicking sound on our Crazy Cart. On ours the main power wire got shorted out after all the constant flexing during steering. Essentially the wire broke inside and I just cut it and made a new connection. A clicking sound could be something else. If I remember correctly I think there’s a chain in there so maybe the sound is coming from that? I don’t own this Crazy Cart anymore so I can’t check so I’m not sure. Sorry I’m not more help!

how did you remove the coil from the wire
@TheRenderQ7 жыл бұрын
On my Crazy Cart, the wire was almost severed inside the coil. So first I had to cut the zip-ties so I could move it around freely. Then I had to stretch out the coil so I could see if there were any breaks in the wire. Stretch the coil in along the length of the coil so you can see the wire in between the out-stretched coil. Since my wire was about to break anyways, I got small wire cutters and cut the wire inside and then just slipped the coil off. Hope this helps

I'm really glad you got your Crazy Cart working again! I think quite a few people have run into this problem and I think the electrical cable will malfunction eventually because of the design. @TheRenderQ2 жыл бұрын
You don’t need the spring! Actually it’s impossible to put back on afterwards. But if you have enough slack in the wire you should be ok! Thanks for your comment! I haven't had a problem with the chain on my Crazy Cart but doesn't mean that I won't later. I haven't looked at the chain on mine but I wonder if there's a bolt where you can adjust the tension of the chain? Next time I open up the Crazy Cart I'll have to look. Hope you found some wire for the repair. It might be tough to get the wire back in the coil even using electrical tape. That's why I had to leave mine off. Good luck!

Mine goes sometimes and other times it won't go unless I give it a push start. Do you think this is the same issue?
@TheRenderQ7 жыл бұрын
You won't be able to tell if you have the same problem unless you open up the motor cover and look at the main wire that goes from the battery to the motor. As shown in the video, the main wire is in a spring-like cover and fed through the steering assembly. Look to see if there appears to be a weak point in the wire. You''l have to stretch out the spring cover to be able to see the wire inside. You will probably have to cut zip ties to be able to fully see the wiring.

From the sounds of it I think you have the same power problem as what I described in the video. When I opened up the Crazy Cart I could tell that the strain on the power wire would cause a short in the wire. I would be pretty sure you have the same problem from your description.

Help me please I did all the steps but added electrical tape in stead of the caps and it doesn't work can you help or should o just buy a new motor?
@TheRenderQ4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm! I don’t really think it’s the motor. But it could be a possibility. Are you able to wiggle the wire and get the motor to do anything? If wiggling and you can get the motor to engage even for a few seconds you’ll know that the motor is still good and it’s just a short in the wiring. It’s possible you patched a part of the cable that didn’t have the short or there may be another portion of the cable that’s shorted out. I wouldn’t immediately buy a new motor. I assume you got the spring off? Mine was already off when I decided to shoot this video. But I took mine off by stretching out the middle to expose the wire inside and then cut the wire. At that point I just slipped the spring off. I couldn’t find another way to do it. Also electrical tape is fine as long as you’ve twisted the wires together tightly.

On my Crazy Cart the power was intermittent and we could tell depending on where the steering wheel was turned that the motor would cut off. On yours I’m not sure if it’s a shorted out power cable like it was on mine caused by the steering wearing it down. The only way to check is to open up the cover and wiggle the power wire to see if it’s shorted out like on mine. Hopefully a little investigation in the battery compartment will reveal what is happening with your Crazy Cart.

If you can find any spare insulated wire will work. Just so you know I used left over wire from my under cabinet lights for this repair. Other ideas would be from an old unused extension cord, Christmas lights that don’t work, cord from an appliance that doesn’t work anymore, power cords from boom boxes, etc. just so you know on single color cords from appliances and computers take a close look at the insulation. One side will be rubbed and the other side will be smooth. That’s how you distinguish the separate wires when you’re connecting the ends. Hopefully you find something. You won’t need much wire for this. Hope this helps!

@TheRenderQ7 жыл бұрын
It sounds like your Crazy Cart is still working but just slow and low power? That may mean you need a new battery for it. The solution in this video is for a shorted out wire between the battery and the motor. Your problem sounds like something different? Or is it an intermittent problem? Mine was like that in the beginning where it would drive a little bit then stop. It was caused by the turning of the steering wheel. Mine had full power but it would run then stop running every few seconds. If that sounds like what you're experiencing then you probably have a short in the wire like I had. Hope this helps you track down the problem!

If your Crazy Cart is having this problem, it really isn't that hard to do. At least open the panels under the steering wheel and take a look at the main wire that is encased in the spring-like sheath. If you have the same problem with a short in the main power wire, the repair is mainly cutting the power wire and adding a good piece of wire to simply reattach the loose ends. Or if you're hesitant, ask a friend or neighbor to help you take a look at this. Show him or her this video first. Hope this helps!
