Appreciate the videos and links! Just ordered new brakes for my sx500!
@Mr69elco2 жыл бұрын
What if you cut a slit in the ring in the fork and expand it with a flat screw driver so you fit the line in. That way you don’t have to undo the line from the brake level.
@PatOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I suppose that's one way to do it, but I prefer not to cut the fork. I'm gonna repaint everything later on anyway so I'm likely gonna redo all the routing when I strip the bike down again. Appreciate the input!

I am following you exact steps. Am curious if there was a way to have the motor cut off when break is applied with these breaks like stock?
@kvcobrav78715 ай бұрын
Hey... Just did this and realized that there's no brake cutoff signal lines to connect to the controller. How do you get your rear tail lights to come on when braking? Your Vids have helped me greatly btw.... Thanks.

I switched over to larger pit bike brakes (with built in brake switches) later on with this bike. But I miss this Zoom brake because the trigger feel was better.

Lol no, cmon man. It’s just a Craftsman 3/8” impact driver. I do (however) have a Ryobi impact drill that I used to drill the holes on the motor haha

Noticed on the Amazon link it specifically says left front right rear. How did you switch it so the left was the rear and right was the front?
@PatOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
That description is meant for mountain bike applications since these brakes were originally designed for those. I simply mounted it so the rear lever was on the left and front lever was on the rear. Also if you ever need to switch it later, you just disconnect the brake hose from the lever and bleed the brakes after install.

@Mark_kuk21 Жыл бұрын
When you disconnect the hose from the lever does it ever get stuck if yes how do I get the hose out?
@PatOutdoors Жыл бұрын
There’s a brass compression fitting at the end of the hose that keeps it sealed when tightened into the lever. Just pull after completely taking out the lock nut

Hello! Just a note that all the rear brake issues are because the rotor is bent, most likely from putting pressure on it when removing the hub adapters. When the bolt was hitting the rotor spoke and dragging, it's only one spoke. All the rest cleared. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer - Appreciate the resource for my own build!
@PatOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
That did come up in my mind, but after running it a few times and applying the brakes, any bit of drag went away. I didn't put much pressure at all on the rotor when I removed the hub. I honestly suspect it's just a machining tolerance flaw on one of the spokes or just the package was dropped a few times during shipping is also possible.

Hey Patt! Does this fit on a stock mx650 wheel?

These are the stock wheels on the bike. Careful on the rotors you choose, regular mountain bike rotors do not fit, must be the earlier bolt pattern. Check the rotors in the description
