It's interesting you mentioned the Algonquin social club, and it's in the footnote as the sales meeting location in the picture you displayed. Great video, thanks again!

Matt, thanks for a super video. It's almost like I would have loved to have been part of that crowd waiting outside the shop window for that first glimpse of the new Gillette models, and would definitely beat the crowds I see standing outside the Apple Store waiting for new iPhones. But I'm sure with same excitement. The presentation of each of those models has so much class! I recently purchased a Gillette DE, but it has the rounded shape Bridge as opposed to the improved flat one. Having tried the classic straight, and the shavette, next shave will be a first with the DE. Hopefully without too many nicks! Thanks again, and you've got a great collection there! And somehow...(undoubtedly) I can see myself starting a collection too. Thanks again from down under here in Sydney Australia.

I love your series on the history of the Gillette razors! You recently were kind enough lately to reply to a question about the Bostonian set I had and I see clearly that the razor is not the correct vintage...too bad because the case and blade bank are really cool and I love the way that the razor raises up as you open the case. I'm looking forward to your next video in the series, thank you.

I think I may have picked up a rarity. A Bostonian that still has the cardboard "blade" between the cap and guard. It could potentially be NOS. If the post office would ever update tracking info... Not sure if I should polish it, or if it's better untouched. I didn't know if it's too rare to find a NOS to even consider shaving with it. I don't wanna be one of those people who ruins something that BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!

I just picked up a New Standard with the case & blade holder at an antique/ consignment shop for $35.00. I got, what I believe, is great deal. There is no serial # on the head, nor the insert tube. I believe this razor was made in 1928, as there was a brief stretch from late 1927 to mid '28 when Gillette did not stamp serial numbers on these razors. What think you, Matt?

Love this video Matt, very educational and just plain interesting. I hear lots about Gillette’s genius marketing( and I believe it was) but I have to believe that Gillette ‘s quality was above or on par with the competition as well. Anyone may correct me if I’m wrong. I do happen to love the old type knock offs, as in Razorocks. Thanks again for another great video!

What’s a fair price on a Bostonian with blade case missing, purple felt not that great a shape but you can still read it and the case does lift up and down? Does need a good polishing. Thanks for the videos. They have this at $80.00

Great video. I started collecting last year. I only buy complete sets and ones that are in mint condition (very hard to find). I do have one question for you. I recently purchased a 1956 (B3) Gillette Diplomat razor in its original case. I truly believe this razor could not have been used more than a few times if that. I unfortunately tried to buff up the butterfly doors with flitz polish (not realizing the gold finish is too soft for that) and took off some of the sheen on one door. What can I use to buff out those lines if anything. Thanks

Anthony Nicholas I try to say it as loudly and as often- GOLD plating CANNOT Be BUFFED. Ever. Your only option now is replating. Sorry!
