I have stubborn edges and the only thing that's been working for me is the gorilla snot sports (the one in the purple bottle- it's a blue gel). That baddie will slay your edges all days after you lay it and tie it down til its dried. Not knocking your choices just giving a suggestion. Feel free to try it out and let me know if it works better for you as well. When I'm working out or shower I through a head band over my edges and it still stays in place.... Plus it's easy to wash out and don't flake.

If it stops moisture from coming in, then doesn't that mean it will stop moisture from going out? Grease is a really effective sealant so it keeps moisture that you put in your hair, in the hair for a longer time, which negates the need to keep moisturising your hair. Also grease rubs off as you go about your days so it's not an impenetrable wall
