I imagine everyone's experience is different, but my gamechanger .84 is both the smoothest AND most efficient in my collection, which includes a 34c, Edwin Jagger de89, Muhle, and a gamechanger .68. It feels like there's no blade to me, like I'm just brushing the whiskers away! Without hesitation, my desert island razor of choice.

It's interesting hearing people's preferences concerning the overhang. For some, it rubs against the ears. However, I like the overhang because it allows the corner of the cutting edge of the blade to be closer to the corner of the base plate. This allows me to get closer to my nostrils when shaving across the grain. But again, like you have mentioned many a time, it's all about the preferences. :)

I have Cella in the tub, but I also have the big kilo block. I was advised by some guys on the forums to keep it in the freezer to keep it from going rancid over time. I hope that works.

Nice comparison shave. Was going to suggest one of Colibri with the Start perhaps. On cost, I paid $20 shipping to the States for the Start, but note that this has gone up to now $24. So that makes it a factor, but do love the Start--nice finish and quite mild and smooth. Colibri looks to be also a fine shaver. Game Changer is superb value in any case. Cella smells of marzipan to me. Good soap.
@alexdeleon71354 жыл бұрын
This entire episode was enjoyable, and informative. Yet I feel compelled to give an endearing thanks for your choice of Cella. I tell many shavers, both young and old, the two reasons that Cella belongs in every den. First, the formula has remained unchanged in 121 years. Second, legendary razorsmith, Maestro Livi offers three things when you order his "set". It has a finger jointed, storage box, that contains one of his hand-forged damascus straight razors, and 1kg brick of Cella! Maestro Livi can afford to use any of the plethora of Italian soaps to be worthy of inclusion with one of his masterpiece razors- but he chooses Cella! But I digress. I did guess correctly that the smoothness factor would go to the Homelike. I must confess that I dislike the overhang, I agree that the Colibri is polished at a higher lustre than the Game Changer. The blade was well chosen. I've enjoyed the Nacet since being introduced to it by Erica Salmons. No alum today? I've never tried that aftershave. Well done, mate! Cheers!
@kevyshaves41094 жыл бұрын
Wow! I didn't know that about Maestro Livi and the Cella. I guess it's not very fashionable these days with all the artisanal offerings, but it will always be in my den. The Homelike razor is superb. I don't know how they can get it to feel so smooth when in use. Kevy 😀

Actually I’m going to order the RR Mamba .70 because of Martyn of YMMV shaves in his opinion said that the Mamba was more efficient than the Game Changer now I don’t if he was referring to the .68 or the .84 nice video Kevy.

Good comparison Kevy! Odd though that this particular iteration of the Russian razor the designer(s) decided to allow overhang. I have the full kit of the previous Russian razor, and there's no overhang. The razor blade is beautifully and safely, above all, contained inside the razor's head. You'd think for this latest addition to the family the Russian designers would have repeated the no-overhang feature.
