For those who may want to know. Another contender is the Yokomo Yz4 sf2. Tl;dr: Its a better associated with less part support. I really liked how the kit went together, better than the Team Associated, though I don't have an opinion on the others as I haven't built them. My fav thing about it though is the kit comes with enough stuff to make it either a dirt of carpet car with exception of a center diff which kind of sucks. As for how it drives it drives, I have driven all of these and I think he's right in saying that the Losi is better to drive, but the Yokomo is not far off, at least for turf. I do think it's better to drive than the other three including the Xray, not really faster but much easier to control. As for durability, the one thing I have broken on multiple occasions have been the front A arms. More durable than the Losi but less than the Associated. Last thing is part support. Yokomo isn't as big in the US but you can still find parts at the larger hobby shops lile OCRC and Beach RC. If you live down under or in Europe you should be good as well.

Seems to me, the best bang for the buck for outdoor dirt racing is the Tekno.... for either dirt or carpet, the TLR need a good bit of changes, kinda like they need a V2 with an AC and DC kits...so it is close out of the box for high traction or dirt... for the price of the TLR kit, then adding a center diff and such to make it work well on dirt, that's putting it up there in cost... I am researching some carpet stuff as I am totally new to carpet racing...at this point I think I am going to check out the new track in my area when it opens next month, and likely if we get into carpet we will stick to some 2wd B6.3 kits for starters... Any input for a family that is getting into carpet racing, but has a decent bit of experience outdoors on dirt? Thanks for all the content...

@D20MCK3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you're definitely missing a few cars. I get a bit annoyed when people say Xray was the company that pioneered the modern 4wd layout, it was Yokomo with the Bmax & Jconcepts/Associated with the BJ4/B44 way before Xray. Every car started looking like a Yokomo B max4. I'm seriously looking at the Yokomo over all these & I'm more of a Losi fan than anything else.
@VestedUTuber3 жыл бұрын
Technically, before Yokomo it was Tamiya with the Avante platform. Granted the Avante platform itself was a HUGE oddball compared to other models, but many of the design elements of modern 4WD buggies had their beginnings on that historic car.
@D20MCK3 жыл бұрын
@@VestedUTuber no, that's a totally different layout. I said modern layout with some crazy suspension. I like the Avante & Egress but it's not technically the same. At the time those cars were around yokomo were running the YZ10 platform and winning almost everything. It took a long time for yokomo to adopt a shaft drive buggy, I very much doubt they took any design ideas from the Avante platform.
@VestedUTuber3 жыл бұрын
@@D20MCK It's not just the shaft drive. The double deck CFC chassis that's a staple in the class and the general internal chassis layout used on these cars originated from the Avante. Most of the 4wd buggies of that era still used tubs.
@D20MCK3 жыл бұрын
@@VestedUTuber can't think of any current competition 4wd that run a double deck layout, also the original yokomo Bmax used a composite tub chassis that was released around 2008, nothing wrong with a tub chassis. The Schumacher CAT SWB was a double deck layout, this was released in 1986. The Avante wasn't released until 1988. Please stop trying to school me on toy cars!
@VestedUTuber3 жыл бұрын
@@D20MCK Fair enough. I concede. And I never tried to say there was anything wrong with a tub chassis, just that it's an older design compared to double-deck and single-deck plates. I will note that if you look back just a generation or two, double-deck cars were everywhere in pretty much every 4WD 1/10th scale class. Seems they went out of style with the shift to carpet racing, where the high levels of grip have made a low center of gravity more important than low weight.

@christebo7305 Жыл бұрын
I would say start out by looking at local parts and upgrade support to narrow your choices. Xray doesn't have as much support for me here, but the major track an hour away does support it. My closest store has more Losi stuff. Years ago at another shop, TE would have the best support. I have another store about 30 minutes away, too, with similar products, but they are known to support a wider range of products and brands. As a matter of fact, they have more than any store I have ever seen other than online. So start with what's available. Then, choose based on what you see here. Tekno seems to be a good choice. X-ray is more, but they also start out more race ready. Losi, you can get a more race ready version kit, too. AE now has a .2 version of the one you see here, so I would expect it to be very competitive if you get the upgraded race version. Still can't decide? See who is driving what locally at your track and talk with them. Some guys are really objective and will tell you what they want next and why. Others will have a lot of brand loyalty but will tell you why, too.

These are not all the best the top players are missing. Hot bodies, Hobao, Tekno, Durango which is arrma now. And mugen, kyosho. And couple special edition ofna converted buggies that won a couple awards that turned into hobao. Yes the ones listed are no weak offerings yet when you post these as the best yes maybe in some categories yet the rest are place winners and a couple were chased away because they were to good and forced out by the industry's games. Like the xtm buggies slight longer and wider wheelbase which made them dangerous on the track as well as strong performers. So the offerings are vast and many bad ass yet to label them the best maybe I guess so, yet some are better than these. And don't forget it's about the drivers and the builds and set ups whom win the races. And we haven't even touched the Japanese cars we will never see in the states or the English lands. And those are built to race and win everything. And if corally built a straight up race buggy with its racing heritage some of you would need that one in your collection hmm racing bashing speed runs 1/8th scale buggies can do it all even turn into a truggy. Have fun and drive to win the race and study your tracks to be the best

Gives public review on buggies, runs a setup that the pro drivers have to release to the public.. but the setup is never 100% correct to what the pro drivers setup actually is… How can you review buggies but not have the knowledge to run a setup that suits you and the track your racing at? This is as pathetic as those thumb nails !
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
I try different published pro setups and find the one I like the best and then make minor changes as needed for my track and me. Over time it’s easy to find a pro that matches how I like my cars to perform, but the point of these reviews has nothing to do with the setup, as obviously that is going to vary person to person. I include it so that people know what baseline I am using as a reference point for the video.

The shocks tend reputation wise tend from what gets said team associated shocks seem to be the best . No leak.. thing is I thing I watched your previous video that was a which is the best that had the tekno eb410.2 . I think from memory you said there was an issue with those or that could have been the team Corally... One thing is that for me parts availability (in a store vs online) and durability . That being in Australia shops don't tend to carry where I live race buggies . Only really two brands Schumacher and YOKOMO have been found.. one shop seems to now be adding TLR ...tekno does also exist in one store but by order rather than walk in a store and buy. As I personally am not in a position to be racing I've been looking at a buggy for driving in the street or park . So my question to you would be is there a buggy you could say is worth looking at .. in the lower price zone. Compared to the race buggies.
