Instead, there are 5 categories you get ranked on when you finish... - Rings (at goal) - Total Rings - Score - Items found - Time Whoever wins the most categories wins the match. Time is just one of five categories, so if Sonic finishes first, but Knuckles gets more rings, items, and enemies killed, then Knuckles wins. That's why he keeps going back for stuff.

Not exactly a coincidence... He who reaches the goodies first gets them after all, and, as shown in Starlight Speedway Act 2, if you DON'T finish in 60 seconds of the other guy you automatically lose that round. The points, items, and rings are enough to give SOME hope once the mercy timer activates, but not as much as it may appear at first.

For ps4, you can play with a friend online. You can host a share play in a party, have the friend join, give them the second controller, and you can play with two players that way. Idk about the other consoles

As a guy who grew up with Sonic (Sonic 2 was literally the very first video game I ever played back in '95 at the age of 5) I really adore the fact that they brought back the classic style Competition Mode. I know everyone is used to online these days, but that's just another thing that makes the classics more special to our hearts. Back then you either had to face your family and or go *outside* and find friends to battle. I know that back then there were people screen peeking but, back then I focused on my screen at least until SA2 when I started to suck at Sonic games. I'll admit it, I cheated my ass off in that game in single and multiplayer.

I loved 2p vs But it does have a few issues. At least with me. 1. THE GODANM STRECHED SCREEN 2. The most common complaint is probably about online play but if you play on the PlayStation 4 you're able to do local play and online play so it's not huge problem. 3. Well I'm not mad at them at not just doing raw race, I do get pretty frustrated when I finish a match before or friend and I didn't win due to the 5 ratio thing.

15:55 - is the SCORE BUG from Sonic 2 in Sonia Mania? see how SONIC kills 2 badniks, and gets 100 points and then 200 points. but then KNUCKLES below jumps up and kills two badniks (before SONIC has landed), but instead of getting 100 and 200 points as he should, he gets 500 and 1000 points (as it is counting from both players). this was in Sonic 2's competition mode too so maybe it is intended behaviour?
