Beautiful work. I'm creating a small machine shop to do stuff like this. Dave is a huge inspiration. I'm a Boomer. In 1970, my best friend's first car was a 850 Spider. It wasn't fast, but it handled well, looked sharp, chicks dug it. I cannot imagine one with 400hp... Subscribing.

I have driven FIAT 850s for almost 50 years. I have both 1967 Spider and 1967 Coupe. A well driven 850 can be quick and embarass other sports cars on twisty roads. A four hundred horse power 850 is going to be scary fast on the street. One of the beauties of the 850 is its light weight. What is the projected weight of the final car?

My dad had a shop when I was growing up. One of his client's had an orange 850 spider. I remember looking in back and seeing that tiny engine with a header exhaust.

I had a Fiat 850 many years ago. Fun car... greqt handling! Everything about it was small! When it came time to replace the clutch, I didnt need no stinkin' engine hoist! Unbolt the engine from the gearbox, pick it up by hand, and set it aside.

The Spider that comes to mind is the NSU SPIDER. With its rotary engine it was super lightweight.

I'd rather buy a new MX-5 ND2. It will have all the modern amenities and the bonus of good reliabity, plus it looks a lot better than the Fiat 850. And if you want more power, there's turbo and supercharger options in the aftermarket, together with upgrade ti suspension, wheels and brakes.
