As a past and current WRC fan i have to say you cant help but love toyota. All of thier classic and retro rally cars are loved and the modern rally one yaris is truly something to behold. Plus toyotas lineup of drivers is easily the most likeable with sebastien ogier, elfyn evans and kalle rovanpera who are all great people and drivers. I used to feel mixed about toyota cars but ever since i started following the wrc i cant help but love them. Good video!

Although it was a serious fraud, the method was so clever that the FIA engineers were astonished. At the same time, Toyota, which accepted the punishment, also took the cheating very seriously and suspended its participation in the WRC for a longer period than the penalty handed down by the FIA. This sincere attitude is highly appreciated by WRC fans outside Japan, and is one of the reasons why Toyota's return to the WRC has been received so favorably. (In Japan, there are many people who originally have an aversion to motorsports, and their reactions were different from those of WRC fans in Western countries, partly because they could not read the FIA reports in other languages correctly.) Cheating in motorsports is a combination of innovative ideas from engineers who exploit loopholes in the rules. Motor sports fans should understand that such problems are a common occurrence in the fierce competition.

I've owned a lot of cars in my 40 odd years of driving hot cars but my GR rallye (bang for buck) tops them all BECAUSE you can have fun driving it 1) In any weather dry or wet 2) On any road smooth or rough 3) Fast or slow

Kalle Rovanperä being a factory driver makes a lot of sense. as a privateer team it would be really hard to be able to compete with that, as they can just break parts and replace them with no remorse to secure the title. It's a different form of racing

great video!! I would encourage people to go test drive one because AS MUCH AS i want to love it!! (i drive a 17 Focus RS, I almost put a deposit down for one) After test drove it This car has made compromises to appeal to the mass which lost its soul a bit for the hardcore enthusiasts. I dont blame Toyota tho cuz at the end of the day they are no charity shops. they need to make money and sell as many as them possible. but thats what makes it less special! Couple things it was far away from the RS. Steering is VERY light. Suspension in the most hardcore setting is still soft. BIG turbo lag (no power under 5k rpm) even they claimed to have a small turbo. but 300 bhp out a 3L engine. there are physical limitations on how you achieving 300 hp. Does not sound good (i drove the circuit edition) the drone from the exhaust is very bad and unpleasant Yes I am aware RS is not as a good a daily of the GR Corolla. cuz the stiff suspension and the HORRIBLE turning radius. but because these things are what made the RS special.

What I don't understand is why They put a 4 cylinder hybrid on the Rally thing but a 3 cylinder gas only engine on the production version. I sure would love the extra boost from standstill of the electric and the sound of the 4 cylinders!

ah toyota showing why i love rally cars and there homologation brothers (though the GR yaris starts at 82k locally...that's quite spicy :P and it being special means even if you can only afford it 2nd hand you might not be able to afford parts for it were something to happen :P). but the thanks for breaking it slogal pretty sums it up, in the 90's seeing circuit cars take a hit and be out of the race, or F1 cars at times snapping off wheels and then you saw the rally cars, flying 10 ft in to the air slamming in the ground with not a care in the world, some cars half the body panels ripped off, front missing, one wheel at an angle and just dragging itself forward... yes that that is the feature i want in my car a stubborn refusal to die or break even when it's highly reasonable :P show me a car flying 10ft high and then slamming on the ground and moving on as if nothing happend (without editing or special effects) and that will have the power of 10.000 ad's
