Thanks for another review video. James is one of my go to reviewers. A great combination of listening impressions and measurements. I believe you need both to add to your research when making decisions on what equipment to consider. Enjoy watching the videos and then reading the more detailed review on Audioholics. This speaker seems like a very good value to me. It will be easy to place and grest for many of us who have spaces. I used to have a dealercbesr me and listened to many of their earlier designs. I had a bias against medal drivers but whatever they do to treat the cones seemed to work very well. One of the larger and more expensive designs was one of the best i have ever heard. Didn't have the bucks at the time so i had to leave them in the store O well.....

Looks good like a great performance value. I think they'd be smart the offer a few premium finish options, gloss or veneer since these are likely going on someones living space and thats a pretty important factor. Also, do these drivers (specifically the woofer) have anything to do with the Dayton RS?, they look quite similar.
@KennyMuhlesteinАй бұрын
Greetings, we're more than happy to do premium finishes but it does cost money. Feel free to send us an email to discuss if you're interested. EDIT: Also, the drivers we use are proprietary to RBH, the only similarity to the Dayton RS drivers is the look and we're both anodized aluminum. Cheers!

Nice, I thought this speaker required us to use their specific amp/processor. Does this speaker come with port plugs?
@AudioholicsАй бұрын
Don't plug the port! Watch the video.
@BobFrostVАй бұрын
@@Audioholics Even for home theater side channel use when one may already have 4 subs? I figured plugging the port would resolve potential phase issues at lower frequencies and boost bass above and below the port tuning. I saw your guys' recommendation to run it full range with a sub for 2ch use but I didn't fully understand the reason why.
@AudioholicsАй бұрын
@BobFrostV the bass driver is crossover over at 100hz, which is close to the typical 80hz crossover and can cause integration issues in bass managed systems w subs. Use thr bookshelf ver of this speaker for surround channels instead.

The midrange crossover point is the only thing holding me back in these
@AudioholicsАй бұрын
Why? It's essentially a bookshelf sitting on a subwoofer.
@chadmorris946Ай бұрын
@@Audioholics I already have a subwoofer so the 8" woofer isn't going to be doing much. Not that they are bad speakers and for a small 2.0 channel system they would be pretty good.
@KennyMuhlesteinАй бұрын
@@chadmorris946 you are correct. These do very well for a 2.0 system in the right room. But for less money you could go for the 5-i or 55-i for home theater use and be quite happy with integrating these with subs.

The frequency response in the treble is kinda wack with this speaker. On axis you get brutalized by the 10-15khz region but you maintain that air brilliance with a flat response to 20khz. Off axis, you get a flatter response and no more peaking but the treble after like 14k drops off like a rock losing all the sparkle. There's no winning here.
@AudioholicsАй бұрын
@Time-Travelling-Lesbian yea you misread this. Virtually every speaker will have tapered off HF off axis. Otherwise, the speaker would be unlistenable in real rooms. Just use little to no toe in and you're fine as James noted.

You may want to consider the reference version of this speaker which uses our AMT tweter. It has more high frequency extension and overall flatter treble frequency response.
