RBMN NRFF Pass Nesquehoning

Nice catch. The Reading & Northern NRFF is a nice train to look out for. It mainly has a lash-up of SD40s and SD50s, but with business booming with the R&N and with NRFF getting bigger at times, hopefully Mr. Muller gets either some SD70ACEs or SD70M-2s. I don't know where he would get the ACEs from but maybe Norfolk Southern might sell Andy some SD70M-2s. It would be cool to see former NS SD70M-2s in Reading & Northern paint. I bet number 2102 would be able to pull NRFF unassisted, but it would have to stop to top off the water and coal supply periodically, but there's no facilities to do that since most of those trackside facilities had been removed when the steam era ended. It's sad though, but it would be awesome if 2102 was in command of NRFF since those Reading T1 steamers were designed to haul freight.

As much as I’d love to see that happen, I think we’re more likely to see SD60Ms, SD60Is, SD70Ms or SD70MACs make their way onto the Reading & Northern roster. Some of the ex-NS SD70M-2s have the unfortunate stigma of being referred to as “Thunder Cabs” due to their non-isolated cabs.
