RBP on JSB: Bach Sonata No. 1, BWV 1001, movement 1

I never imagined that someone will take the time of almost half hour to analyze one single page of Bach's work. I am impressed that she produces so nice sounds without using vibrato, and using a baroque bow which seemed longer than the standard baroque bows. I also look at her chin rest which is unique and I think ( not 100% sure) that Maxim Vengerov uses the same chin rest. If I dare to comment , I would say that Bach was a bass man. He loved the bass notes , however Ms. Barton passes them quickly . producing the upper notes. To me I would do the first chords in 2 separate bows. One up bow starting from the tip to flash the bass lower notes and then rolling to the middle and tip. I apply this technique in many Bach chords not only here but in other works too. I will keep in mind the E natural versus the e flat. Great presentation Ms. Rachel

And thankyou also for not "imposing" too much but instead give us in Your gentle and charming way the feeling that we can choose those options we prefer and that are convenient for us. On the e natural on measure 3, the Henle edition (urtext) put the flat there. I need to check the Joachim/Moser edition to see if the same is also done, when I get around to do my spring cleaning...

What kind of exercise would you recommend to someone who is already a musician but not a violin to memorize the violin arm reading notes on the beginner score for please... I take a long time to decipher which note is on the score.
