socialist programs already exist in america. have you heard of the police? hospitals, fire departments, library's, schools. maybe...I would think having a larger population would lessen the burden across the board. I love the argument that it would just cost to much money to do the right thing. here are some numbers for you. It has been estimated to cost $20B to end homelessness in america. It has been estimated to cost $30B to end world hunger. The border wall congress wont approve was estimated to cost between 20 and 30 billion. congress increased the military budget by $76 billion last year, and we are not at war. yes, we raised the military budget by enough to end homelessness and world hunger last year, when we already spent more than the next 8 largest nations combined. Its not about how much money we spend, its about who makes a profit.

GDP per hour worked is a measure of labor productivity. It measures how efficiently labor input is combined with other factors of production and used in the production process, as of 2017 German productivity per hour rated against a 2010 reference is 107.6% and the US is 102.3%. Germany is _consistently_ higher than the US, even socialist Canada is at 107.7%, the US consistently *underperforms* the OECD total. Point being that social programs aren't a bad thing, a happy, healthy workforce that are paid properly are more productive.
