That was wonderful. I was all smiles! Bobby sounds the best I’ve heard in a while. Ricky did not upstage Bobby with the high notes. It was perfect. Ricky filled in that youthful Bobby voice that Bobby had outgrown decades ago, with or without drugs. Ricky just has a permanent boyish voice. It was very supportive. 🙏🏾 Ugh. Joyful tears.
@1DNETTA6 жыл бұрын
Karehma Simon, Yes! Ricky did fill in the high note(s) that the "youthful Bobby" used to hit. I think with more practice (& bit more weight loss) , Bobby probably can get back more of those high notes he use to sing. But you summed that up well. 😊
@simonsez17876 жыл бұрын
1DNETTA YES! I was definitely thinking about the weight loss too! I’d consult someone like Charlie Wilson. His voice is totally unscathed after his drug abuse. Wilson is also beyond sober too. Zero substances including alcohol and cigarettes, plenty exercise, taking care of the throat. It can be done.

Bobby Brown the voice is back. Hitting that note at 2:29 and 2:38 is proof his voice is returning or possibly this was just a good day. Regardless clips in the past show he wasn't able to hit those notes and failed miserably at times and in other times would just let the crowd sing it. Glad to hear that voice return. Now if we can just get some of those dance moves back.Good job brotha.

Man, they sounded great. I was waiting for Ricky to come in & take the lead, he killed it even singing background, always thought he had an even better voice than Ralph & Bobby, no disrespect though, NE is undoubtedly my favorite singing group of ALL TIME. “If you don’t sit yo ass down” Bobby’s smile after that 😂

He has always been amazing. I think that because they were around when so many legends were alive and still performing they didn’t get the acclaim that they deserved. Ricky is one of the best technical tenors in the industry. He carried most of NE songs in the background. Vocally he takes up the space for the 2 rappers vocals. I love NE such a well rounded machine.

Deedoc : Nah. You must be a relative of Ricky’s. 😆 The most underrated R & B singers are Stokley Williams (of Mint Condition) and Gary Jenkins (aka “Li’l G,” of Silk). No disrespect to Ricky Bell, because he can sing, too, but Stokley and Li’l G are on another level - Johnny Gill’s level, maybe better. Those two would blow Ricky off the stage and into retirement. By the time they were done with Ricky he’d be driving a school bus for a living. And Ricky CAN sing...like a good local club singer, not an icon...not on his own.😆 He can’t “blow.”

I finally had to go look it up. I didn't know _Don't Be Cruel_ wasn't his solo debut. And I had no idea all of his hits were packed onto that one disc! *FIVE* tracks (half of the album) that my young azz knows well, because they are _still_ in regular rotation! #Unsung
@nazb336 жыл бұрын
crnkmnky Yeah his first album had probably one or two instant hits like Girl Next Door. The entire crew, whether as solo acts or as separate groups, they still are leading the way. Highly underrated until BBD released Poison. My favourite NE track has to be If It Isn't Love produced by Jam and Lewis. They brought that raw Minneapolis sound just at the right time. Steel production along with silky vocals. This live performance of Ron, in my personal opinion brings everything back to the fun days of Candy Girl. I wonder how Johnny Gill would've sounded bringing his bass tones to the performance. Ralph T always had the credentials for performing soft lead vocals. New Edition fan forever. Peace
@crnkmnky6 жыл бұрын
@@nazb33 : "If It Isn't Love" is definitely my favorite (well, besides when Ricky Bell & Carl Mo remade "When Will I See You Smile"). Seeing the videos from that era is one of those things that really make me believe I came up in the wrong era. 😆
