Lead-core line... my dad's a fisherman and he told me to use it on my winch. It retains its form which can be very helpful since the line will no longer coil up without any tension.

Attaching the winch hook, eye spice the braided line. Knots greatly reduce break strength, the fisherman's 66% break strength vs a splice that remains at 100%. Mind you splicing such small line can be a real pain, a guitar string folded in half can be a great tool

Replacing my stock line on my Warn Winch 8274 . . Using DSM Off-Road line which is supposed to be 250 pounds . . Kind of need it since my TRX4 Bronco is roughly 14 pounds running weight . . My rig is use as an anchor for some friends when crawling due to being the heaviest and strongest running with an older HH Revolver 1800kv motor paired to a Castle Sidewinder 4 ESC. .

Hey, Medic! That knot can actually come undone. I've used it before for fishing and with enough weight on the end it come undone. So if you do the same thing and at the end of what you've already did, take the excess and put it between the line when you twist it and the loop by the hook. Then, pull it tight. I've never had any trouble with it like that. Here is a video of what I am trying to explain. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2LGc2aMfd6BnM0

I love fishing with braided line but there are a few things to be concerned with. First of all, braid is very smooth. If you're not careful it'll actually pull itself through a knot because there's not enough friction. The way I get around this is I put a large dap of super glue, usually krazy glue, all over the knot. I've never had that fail. Whenever I've broken the line it's always been at least a foot away from the knot so it's more than proven itself. Another thing is fishing line tends to loosen on a spool if given the opportunity so I would tighten it down on the spool until all the slack is out. It doesn't take that much force but I would make it taut for sure.

You didn't wind it up like it was before, you push your trimmer foward to unspool but pushed it forward to spool it after you replace the cable. Plus you should have it spooling IN with the cable going under the barrel and NOT over it.

EV TEK bahahaha!!!!! good one everett ! the old over or under routine ! in my house the TP is pulled from the top ,away from the wall. my winch was also spooled from the top , factory set up. lol! ps : threw ya a sub ! B>D
@freemarlochip9 жыл бұрын
brian hilligoss The idea of it for winch is that if it's rolling from the top it puts excessive stress on the fairlead rollers (top) for nothing... I didn't mean to start a debate but was simply pointing out that he redid the spooling different then how it was originally or at the start of video. It's all good they're just toys.
@MyPuppers9 жыл бұрын
freemarlochip no probs at all buddy. but my 3 racing winch came out of the package with it spooled from the top. thats all i was sayin. i don't think it really matters. if it really mattered , im sure the winch would be designed to only be spooled from the top or bottom . i thought the TP remark was so funny , i had to throw in an answer. i was joking back. so no worries bro no debate here . to each his own. B>D

Being a bluefin tuna fishermen that is not the way to tie that type of line. You need to use special glue and tie it a much different way. But then that 300lb test line is WAY overkill as I can push 300lbs of drag on much lighter line and real in a 400lb tuna.
@matmuffin19 жыл бұрын
Ment to say 200lbs of drag

Don't forget braided line doesn't like to hold knots well . Put a drop of super glue on the knot and it won't unravel also a drop on the other end before inserting in the spool gives the set screw a better bite just make sure it is completely cured beforehand
