I feel compelled to apologize to our viewers for not addressing this issue sooner, but always a performer, I've never wanted to burden you with my issues. I have been hiding the truth about my back issues since I started RC ADVENTURES so many years ago. My goal has always show a positive attitude, and not burden our viewers with groans and moans about how I was hurt. "The Show Must Go On" has always applied with my attitude about my back injury and KZbin. Quite recently, I have injured my back again, as I suffer from an affliction called Degenerative Discs. This simply means that the small discs in my spine that separate the vertebrae have been losing their fluid, causing them not to cushion my spine very well. This has caused me some issues where the discs are damaged, and cause muscle spasms and other nasty issues I wont bother to get into.
The purpose of todays video is to bring to light that I have been suffering more recently, and this is why I have had to lighten my video production as of late on KZbin. Be rest assured, I am working everyday to ensure I can find a "cure" for what is ailing me - and in the mean time be producing RC ADVENTURES as usual. The only thing is - there are some things I can not do as well as I used to.
I am sad to announce that the "BiG DiRTY 2017" has been cancelled due to the injury I have sustained. It is too much work for me to do, on such a massive scale. Every year I have done this event, and it''s usually while Im in great pain - this year, I want to take this time to heal, and to do my best to continue doing what I love - and to be the best Darn Dad / Husband I can be! Currently, my son is 3 .5 years old.. and is a bundle of energy! Dad cant go on the trampoline with him, and I am limited in some of the things I can do already - I certainly dont want to make it worse. Just the opposite!
So, where does this leave us with RC ADVENTURES?! The Same as it has always been! But, as little Maurice gets older, and as my wife is always willing to get in front of the camera - it is slowly becoming FAMiLY RC ADVENTURES! This has always been my dream :)
If you have read this far - I would like to thank you personally, for taking the time to understand my predicament. I have had so much fun on KZbin, and want to continue to do so. It is people like you, the viewers, the readers - the community - that help make this show possible! We are almost at 1 Billion views.. and we are honoured, as a family - to have been invited into your homes, your places of work, and all over the world. My family, and I thank you! Your support during this difficult time is appreciated, and noticed. :) You know me by now, I'll bounce back and come up with something awesome soon enough!
Now.. I'm going to go for a small walk.. and try to loosen up these old bones of mine.. haha ;)

I think after reading almost 900 comments in less than 24 hours.. I am shocked and astounded at how many of us share the same afflictions with our spines. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you that are being "shocked" each day by your body. May my healing thoughts and prayers go out to each one of you. We are all connected in one way, or another :)

RCSparks Studio I have multiple issues including my back there is a pinched nerve I do believe in one of the big nerves and when it acts up let's just say good luck getting me off the chair. That's just the start my neck will act up from time to time and it hurts, my left knee actually just took a fit today and when it does that I nearly fall down the stairs from the pain and get this I'm 16 but of course I lift firewood twice the size of me to keep warm in the winter but I know your pain and living with it day after day you get to a point that even though the agony you're in you start to no longer feel anything, no more pain, no more of the knife in the back feeling, I'm going through this and I fight, and I never stop fighting, for everyone with the same burden as I never stop fighting the pain.

I thank you all for understanding while I have been away. I'm working hard to get my back into shape so I can get to filming what I love!! I also want to make sure I can be the best Dad / Husband I can be.. so I must heal up! Slow and steady wins the race :) Thank you for all of your support, and comments I have had on Facebook - and wanted to do this video to answer all the questions that have been asked over the years.

Nelson, viewers like you are the reason that I am able to make this show. I do my best to read every comment on every new video I release. I think its my duty as a content creator to reach out to our viewers and let them know how important you are. You took the time to comment, sharing something personal of your life. I also respect that, and appreciate the thought - as it shows me that I am not the only one who is experiencing this type of injury. Your 100% correct.. being a Dad is the ultimate gift of life.. and I want to be the best Dad I can, as well as being a great family member to the viewers who support the show. I appreciate you taking the time to watch this film today, and to let me know your story. :)

Hi Aaron, it is a lot of courage to speak so before the Camera about his illness and for this you deserve all my respect.✌️💪 Take time for your health and your true fans will stay true to you even if you do not have as many videos with action as before. You have a lot of good friends and it is time for the guys to do a little work and movies, you can direct and relax. You inspired me 2 years ago to make my own youtube channel with RC videos and I have a lot of fun with it, without your cool videos I would not have a channel of your own and therefore thank you for all your motivation. I wish you well, and send greetings from Germany ✌️🤝 greetings Torro

Spot on description in every aspect, from the debilitating pain, to the good days, to taking a chance doing something for your family that may hurt, because it's family and should be done. I came back to RC, watching your videos, as well as others, due to a lasting back injury, and inability to do "normal" work. Went from 80 work weeks to stay at home dad. Now I take care of my family in a different way.

That would be great! I've had xrays, scans and injections to find ways to help but the tell me I'm too young for surgery? Injection helped for about a year then my other side went out. The lowest disc on my left side is completely degenerated so it made the other ones on top of of it to slip out.

I've been home the last 8yrs having surgery after surgery. I have rods and screws in my spine, artificial disc, with a computer implant in my back. I actually started watching your videos while I was in the hospital. I had originally got back into scale model building, but when I saw scale crawling I realized I could still make my own scale bodies and parts it was on!!! It was great way to get outta out of the house with still building. I totally feel your pain and wish you the best man, I don't like to hear of anyone going through a back injury! It's definitely not easy, but please keep the videos coming when you feel up to it. Your videos are a huge inspiration for me. Thank you for all the work you put into them!

So you're back story and mine are almost exactly parallel only difference is that I am now 61. My back problems started at about the age of 19 and plagued me my entire life. I worked concrete construction, factory jobs and the like. At age 56 I experienced my first bout of sciatica. I started working out of the gym and got some relief. At 57 I was hit with sciatica so badly that I could not sit or lay down the only way I was comfortable was standing which is just exhausting. I was on steroids and pain killers. I went for a cortisone injection in the spine to relieve swelling. It helped zero. So after a couple more weeks of taking meds and developing other complications a family member arranged and appt. with a neurosurgeon. The appt was in the outpatient section of the hospital, The neurologist looked at the xrays of the l4-l5 vertebrae and remarked that He didn't really see a lot going on in there but based on my symptoms agreed to have a look. I was admitted immediately, spent the night and had surgery the next morning at 9:30. I walked out of the hospital that afternoon at 3:30 and have been pain free ever since. He explained that a portion of the disc had ruptured and was in the spinal canal irritating the nerves of the spinal cord thus causing the debilitating back problems I had suffered with all my life and the sciatica which lasted about a month.I had been to every orthopedics Dr in my City over the years with the same results, exercise, week stomach muscles, blah blah blah! I'm not saying surgery is the right thing for everyone but it sure changed my life 100%. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I got your back man! LOL P.S. I also weighed 135 lbs forever, was 5"10" tall and very active. I so wish that I could have had that procedure in my twenties and avoided a lifetime of a sore back.

WOW! This is amazing to hear, and inspiring. Thank you - I have also considered begging a surgeon just to go inside and have a look. I bet our issues are similar.. and I thank you for taking the time to write this to me. It may help me in getting the relief I need. Thank you

You are doing the right thing, Medic! When you can walk, walk! Back issues are always so hard to explain and you did well. I never ever thought I'd go to a chiropractor but when I did, it helped after a while of consistent adjustments. Now, over ten years later, pain is usually gone, less severe, and it takes much less time to recover. Really depends on how much I abuse it at work now, where as before it was constant. I've had a couple acute injuries to my lower back in my life, but mainly tightness and, on the verge of going out, for long periods of time. A good chiropractor is hard to find, and inflammation is hard to treat. I've seen first hand anti inflammatory supplements, like turmeric work, along with adjustments and stretching and using ice packs frequently. It's not easy as you well know. But, like the gentlemen who commented earlier said, maybe there is something going on that just can't be determined without going in. I sure hope not though. Good luck either way and thanks for all the entertaining videos.

Hey Medic just so as you know and can see from all the amazingly awesome comments that we all subscribe to you not just for your brilliant videos but we all think of you as one of our family. And as we all know family comes first no mater what the circumstance are, weather it be personal injure of other family members in need. Please do us all including your immediate family a favor an get the best help you can to get better an stay strong mentally as that side of any illness can be far worse than the actual problem. It may even be worth your while to pass the RCSparks rains over to either Jem or one of your very very close an dear friends for a short time just to keep all us avid and loyal watchers entertained until your able to make your own videos again. I too have back problems I have arthritis in C4 and C5 as i come of off a forklift and head butted the ground , I spent 2 weeks in hospital an countless amounts of injections and physio sessions at the time, it has been 18 years since this happen and I still and always will have pain in my neck ( yes I'M a pain in my neck :) ) but its not gong to beat me and I wont let it get me down . Keep up the awesome work mate Heaps of love from western Australia

You nailed it with the last sentence you made... Not gunna beat me, and no going to keep me down. That has been my attitude for the last 16 years of this injury.. I wanted you guys to know, so at least you didnt think I was abandoning the channel, with no explanation of where I was. And of course so many people have had questions over the years, I figured it was time just to answer as many questions as I could for now, and future reference. You guys have always been a part of my life, and I have spent so much time with you all.. I figured it was only fair to share what was going on. Thanks for the kind words, and for sending the positive vibes. I am a very lucky fella to have so many dedicated family members of RC ADVENTURES :)

I can totally relate to you on this. I'm 19 and I've had back issues for almost 6 years now (and ongoing) and it's not fun. I've had times when I would take days and up to a week off of highschool because just like you, I couldn't get up/walk. When I could walk around, I'd always have a bottle of advil in my bag to help me get through my day. Luckily, the worst times was when I was a bit younger and my body more malleable (though my doctor did think of surgery as a last resort), so getting professional help really did a lot to help. Did physiotherapy for about 6 months and my therapist told me I was lucky I was still "young enough" my body could grow to change for my benefit. Though I do get aches now and then, it's never as bad as it was years ago.

Been through a very similar situation. Trashed my back a few years ago (T11/T12). I was also diagnosed with degenerative disc syndrome when I just couldn't get better. I tried physical therapy, massage therapy, accupuncture, and accupressure. Years later, I was having some other issues with my shoulder, and after lots of testing, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. If you're having any other muscle/joint issues, I'd suggest getting tested. I imagine you have deer ticks in your neck o the woods. I really think that I've had it for a long time, and that it contributed to my inability to recover from my back injury. Just a thought, man.

My dad would hear a pop in his back and his legs would go numb and he would be in great pain and would drop to the ground. He would have to roll on his back grab his knees (pushing through the pain) and pull them to his chest and his back would pop again and he would wait a few moments to handle the pain then get up and move on. He got it all fixed at Lazer spine institute and when they did they found out he had I think two compressed disks in his lower back like right in his arch and a slight compressed disk right below his neck. They also found out he had arthritis and how his back still hurts (probably from the arthritis) but his legs don't go numb.

Dear Aaron, as a long time follower from Topkick to project Overkill. From David's Spider wraith, skycrane, and judge. You have always been entertaining. I will continue to look for your videos and "like"them. I'm not one to suggest what to do in life or in hobby. I am sure that with the love and support of your wife Jem and Moe you will be able to press on. I have admired that you were able to turn your hobby into a paying carrier on youtube. You have created a community here Aaron don't hesitate to ask for help.

I feel ya! Literally! I injured my back in 2013 and have had several surgeries and countless other procedures and still deal with extreme pain daily. Fortunately the surgeries made it so my legs worked again. I can no longer do the job I loved as a firefighter/paramedic but I try to not let it bring me down. The important thing is to take care of yourself and family and everyone will be here ready to watch when you can get videos out.

Aaron, as much as I and everybody else love your videos, it's not worth being wheelchair bound for the next 40 years of your life. I wont pretend to know how the ad revenue and merch sales work, but hiring some of the amazing talent that you have had on the show over the years, even part time, would give you a much deserved break. Not trying to tell you how to manage your content, but i think we would all feel a little guilty if you were to push your back a little too far trying to entertain us.

Hey man, just wanted to share my experience in life with a bad back. I have had 3 herniated discs in my back l 3,4,5. In my younger years ,as you said, I abused my back in ways no man should. By the time I was in my late 20's the injury set in. For 3 years I was bed or sofa ridden for 30 days. It happened once a year almost like clockwork. The last time was the final straw for me. I called laser spine institute and got a free consultation. Sent them x-rays and MRI films and they called back and said they can help. I drove to Philadelphia, pa from Virginia and got an endoscopic laser spine surgery. I could barely stay on my feet going in, and when done the same day, felt like a new man. They cut a 1 inch in my lower back and worked through a tube that was in the incision. Very minimal scar. They sliced off the one disc that was compressing my nerve and boom, no pain. That was when 31 and am 40 now and have had no problems what so ever. I have learned big lesson and now try to lift things right etc... and be mindful of my back. If you are at all considering that as an option, please get in touch with them, they will tell you if they can help or not. Not everyone is the same, as you know. I understand your pain. It's the type of pain I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy. That's my story. Take care brother, your son has so much more to do with you. My son was 3 when I started having problems. Hope you feel better soon brother.

Just saw this video for the first time and I figured that's what was wrong with your back . I myself have spondalothesis which means my back is actually broken and is constantly shifting around on my tailbone . But the more I rest the more pain I am in and can't move. Which is why I am happy that I have found the outcast of hobby shops closest to me . One being 30 miles south and the other being 40 miles north east and I have rejoined the rc sparks army and have acquired 8 trucks in the past year and am helping others by repairing their cars for them free of charge for the love of the hobby that I was first interested in when I was 13 and got my fiirst hobby grade rc (The Hornet). Which I have already bought and built the black edition for nostalgia. I think that you are an Inspiration and the actual spark that is relighting the rc addition . Thank you and keep doing what you do . John P. Jessup Pa . U.S.A.

My husband had a problem like this and was helped by going to an good acupuncturist and follow it up within a day or two with a visit to a chiropractor. He did this three times and has been good for 4-5 years with only an occasional chiropractic appointment after 10 plus years of problems like you are having. The acupuncturist helped to loosen up the back for the chiropractor and helped with pain, inflammation, and muscle balance. The most helpful adjustment the chiropractor used was a pelvic drop using the drop piece on the table. We also used a homeopathic remedy called arnica to help with the inflammation that is causing the pain. Hope some of this info helps you. If you have any questions my husband can fill you in with more info. We enjoy your show and wish you a speedy recovery and the best of luck.

My son is 3 years old and for over a year now he loves watching your videos which really helps us bond and for him to pickup the interest for RC stuff - I even got him a small crawler from Hobby King to hide in the most unexpected places around the house. I feel your pain! I was medically discharged from the Army back in 2013 because of my degenerative disc L4 & L5 with nerve damage. Your pain that you described is what exactly happens where it causes excruciating pain from bending over to put on my socks, tie shoes, play with my children, dogs, RC cars or just yard work and daily obligations in my lower back kinda feels like inside my pelvis, and down my legs. If I stand too long or sit for extended periods of time my back goes out. I have had electrotherapy, steroid injections, motrin, percocet, muscle relaxers, physical therapy, core training, acupuncture,, chiropractic work, decompression therapy etc without any help. I was recommended by my VA doctor for back surgery last year and still waiting for all this to happen .

Medic, I also have had spinal problems. Mine was in my neck. I delt with the pain for many years ,and finally had enough. I had a herniated disk that pinched off the nerve to my right arm and fingers. I also went threw physical therapy and the traction table with little relief. Finally went to a spine specialist here in West Virginia and he gave me the option of Fusing my vertebrae or disk replacement. I went with the disk replacement and after a year now am much better. But the pain is always there but not as bad as before. The pain is tolerable now but still there. I feel for you. It's like no pain I have ever felt before. I know I live a long ways away but if I can help in anyway get with me brother. I'll do what I can or answer any questions u may have with the surgery I went threw. Get well!!

As one who also has back issues I 1000% understand your pain. Three years ago I developed a somewhat never ending back ache. The day of my wedding three years ago was the most painful point until about 6 months ago (some married men will laugh). But alas, at the ripe age of 24 I finally sought medical help. Turns out that I have arthritis in my back. Years of not going to the doctor have utterly ruined my back. At night once I lay down, I am completely done. Even scratching my face is unbearable. Rolling over or adjusting is a fantasy as I am in that much pain. Mornings are just as bad and it has caused issues with work. I have lost 5 jobs in the last 7 months and only one has been due to me leaving and that one was for lack of pay. After going to the doctor and basically being told that "yep, you gotta deal with it and its. gonna. suck. Period" and being put on nerve numbing meds have I bothered telling anyone other than my doctor that I'm in pain. I'm only 24 and have back issues, come to find out I could have had relief two or even three years ago that would have fixed my back for at least 10 to 20 years. And now its almost pointless to try to fix and now I can only have temporary relief. Main point to take home is that if you have pain, even if you are the biggest and most badass mofo out there, GET MEDICAL HELP. I am 24, married with two children, partially disabled, and I thought I'd just tough it out.

Medic, please take care of yourself. I don't have near the back problems you do, but I sometimes suffer from muscle strains in my back and the can be really painful and paralyzing, so I empathize. Iv'e learned so much from you since I got back into the RC world about 6 years ago. Myself and your many other fans have watched your channel become great. We've watched Jem get better at RC and Morris grow. Much respect brother!

Wow. I had just sent you an email about how your videos have saved me from going nuts at home in bed with nothing to do. You have described exactly what I have been going through for the last eight years. I just had surgery on my L4-L5 where one of my discs was herniated so bad it was putting so much pressure on my spinal cord that I was losing use of my left leg. I did not have a fusion done but a simpler surgery called micro endoscopic discectomy. This is where they go in and remove the herniated portion of the disc to release the pressure being put on my spinal cord. Man I feel your pain. I didn't listen to my body and overdid it doing yard work and that's what put me in the hospital. What has always worked for me was stretching everyday. By everyday I mean all 7 days a week and hitting the gym in the stretch room another 3 days. Taking all of the stretches I have learned from years of physical therapy and just continuing on with them. You have such a great attitude and you will get better. Keep exploring your options and never give up. I'm 44 now and I too have a son however he is a 6'3" 225lb body builder so it would be weird if I were to pick him up and hold him. (Hope that made you chuckle) I can go on forever but will leave you with the same advice that worked for me for so long and stretch, stretch, stretch and eat as healthy as you can.
