RC Boat Review and Catch

We finally got our new toy out for some testing and it worked great. We purchased a Joysway Fishing Surfer Bait Boat to add to the Smitty's Surf Fishing arsenal. This awesome boat will run 500m /~530 yrds and drop large baits to catch the big ones from shore. It has built in GPS with auto return and can mark 4 separate locations so you can return your baits to the same spot each time. It is also equipped with a Tolson 300 depth finder. Cool toy! might buy one as well. Also, sending the bait out I would just open the bail to make it easier to send out and extend the life of the drag. I would honestly upgrade to a 5'6 heavy rod in case you snag something big like a shark or tarpon that shorter rod makes the fight a lot easier.

It does pretty good at keeping the water out. I've never had more than a few drops of water infiltrate so far The electronics are waterproof but I, like you, wouldvlike to keep water out.

Liked and *SUBBED* - Im considering buying one of these...Just a bit concerned though as you mentioned that water has the possibility of getting inside the hull. This would be a concern in the back of my mind as if it gets rolled by a few waves on the way out/in - The possibility of frying the circuitry is high also the retrieval of a half sunken investment would be devastating for me. The biggest problem would be the Lipo battery getting wet as these will explode if any water seeps into them. Is there anyway of modding the watercraft to be as water tight as possible with say a silicone seal etc? I don't know much about them so would really appreciate any advice. Not hating but that cant touch a flame to the aquacat we run. That ocean was like a lake. Probably good for running a mullet or chunk whiting at the max on the calmest days.

How far out have you taken the rc boat? Have you tested the 500m claim/spec? I've had mine beyond ~250 -300yrds and had no problems to date. Maybe it's my old eyes but, I found it hard to determine the boats orientation once it's that far out, even with the lights.

Not sure haven't maxed it out yet. Not sure it would handle a bonita for sharks but a whole blue runner or whiting it dropped with 4 oz weight with no problem. Plenty big for what I use it for.

Great question, if you follow the steps in my maintenance video, you should be good. I average about 60 mins per charge. That equates to about 5-6 bait drops for me.

hey man, i have the fish finder version now, the instructions suck lol, idk how to tell when the fish finder is charged cause it wouldnt turn on unless plugged in? also there's a little black clip that came with the remote what is it for its a u shape? how did u connect the fish finder to that rod? sorry for all the questions but the instructions are trash for this thing lol so far i love it still though

The black clip is so you can hang it on your belt , I dont use mine. I use the triangle piece with a lanyard. As for the depth finder, you'll need to plug it in and let it charge initially. It will turn on and operate while charging. However to get a goid charge, turn the unit off. You should see a "filling battery" once fully charged, the battery will show full bars. Hope that helps. @@SmittysSurfFishing Ahh i see for the clip, i found out my battery is loose so the fish finder wont stay on... fun times lol...sent a request on that.... what did u use to attach the fish finder to things, it didnt come with anything for me? also there is a bag i assume is extra parts for the fish finder but none of it is needed except the charger right. i didnt see anything to attach it to things in there just a bunch of what looks like a way to attach it to another boat? thanks for the responses, subbed for sure.

Yeah nothing comes in the box to mount the fish finder, I use the camera mounts for my GoPro works great. As far as the loose battery I do remember that now and I think I just folded a piece of paper to make it tight fit in there. I don't remember extra parts for the fish finder it was a bag of a few extra clips and things like that I'd have to actually go back and look and see what I got.

Hi my friend. Iv built over 60-bait boats and this boat has problems the first one the motors letting in salt water that’s bad for the money it cost. There should be shafts on an angle but I’m sure the motor shaft goes straight out the boat. The sonar should be up in a recess it could easily be hit. It all looks good with the Antennas nice water blue sky white sand save your money. If any one see the parts on a bench out of this boat they would think all the money for that and when it goes wrong back to the factory. The boats I built for people the can change any thing they want. Build your own it’s not hard at all iv built many and fitted fish Finder hard wired camera or cameras led front and rear lights bait dropping LEDs and other things people say in clever witch is nice to hear. Build your own it’s not hard just don’t rush.
