Great video. Very different from what you typically post, but it's good to see you trying a new content format. Restoring these old racers isn't easy as replacement parts are getting harder and harder to come by, but it's a lot of fun, especially if you've never run one of these old cars before. They're different from the current crop of racing RC vehicles, but you can see and feel the lineage in both design thinking and vehicle dynamics. This reminds me that I really do need to get back into restoring an old RC10 gold pan I picked up a couple of years ago. But it's the typical story: so many RC projects, so little time (and money... mostly money really).

Great vid! Don't be afraid to throw more power at it, brushed mod motors may not compare to todays low wind brushless mods but were still plenty powerful. As long as your diff and slipper are set correctly you're golden. I've been running a 17.5 in my JRX2 don't see any reason why it couldn't handle a 13.5. A 10.5 might be pushing things though 😆

Nice one Roach! I restored a B3 a few years back. With mine i modernised it a small amount, you can use a B4 slipper setup if you are prepared to bore the topshaft hole out a small amount. if you can find em run rc10gt wide front axles (for b4 wheels) On the back you can go to modern hexes if you swap out the c hubs to b4 (drill out the hubs to fit b3 pin in the bottom of arm) Just need a b4 axle as well. The diff will hold up to brushless easy, I have no idea how previous owner welded that diff hahaha. With all the mods you end up with a vintage buggy that drives as well as a b4, its still very competitive on all but high grip surfaces. Thanks for taking the time to upload. Great video. The resto mod you showed in picture was a Charger not a Challenger. Im a big Mopar guy so I always notice those things haha.

Hi mate, currently restoring a b2 myself! I know your pain about the screws....for your information the thunder tiger phoenix is basically a b3 so if you need parts that are cheaper, look out for them!

bro thanks to your videos i found out which was one of the first rc cars i had. i am not 100% sure but i'm guessing it's the team associated rc10t.2 stadium truck. i wish my local track drove a stadium truck class, but i think i'm gonna get started with 2wd buggy, as i feel onroad racing is not really my style. thanks for the amazing videos!. btw, how do you manage that pink to white fade on the body, it' sick!

Thanks man, glad I could help with that. As for how I did the fade it was pretty much just a rattle can job without masking tape. Paint one half hot pink, one half white and in the middle goes a shade of light pink.

I’m doing something similar with a B4, I even got the same motor and esc. I’m curious what pinion and spur gear you used.

From memory I think I used a 20 tooth pinion to make sure I didn't over gear. Turned out to be very undergeared

Nice video, I’m in the middle of fully restoring an inherited b2 that saw a whole lot of abuse over the years. You mentioned you created a shorty pack brace, would you mind sharing the file? I created a vinyl inlay for the tub to cover up damage and give it a nice color match to the body of you have access to a vinyl cutter I can share

I ended using foam for the battery. AJC mods has a battery strap for shorties I believe

Awesome nice one. Love running vintage. Restoring a B4 ATM and just ran into the imperial screw problem. Did you just punch the m3 screws straight in or did you need to tap them.

I ended up using imperial tools from one of my old driver sets to remove them before I replaced all of the screws with metrics
