I sold my 2.0 Tekno last summer... I have an older Xray buggy with the single battery configuration, I believe it's a 2020 model. I have been contemplating picking up the MP10e Tki2 kit for the coming season... that or the 2.2 Tekno. Let me know if you think that picking up the Tki2 is a good option. I race on low-med grip tracks that do sometimes develop a good bit of character. Cheers...

All of the poor handling and parachuting of SCT is what makes them challenging and interesting. I like bigger setups that really respond to setup changes. I like body roll. In reality they are difficult to setup and drive consistently which is why those used to formula one handling pass on them. They are…just like their full scale counterparts in my opinion. A real handful.

The big bear was the first RC car that I ever saw run besides something you would buy in a toy store. The year was 1987. By 1988 I was able to get my hands on a big bear kit and begin racing it at the local 4H fair grounds indoor carpet. I used an Airtronics stick radio, 7.2 V NiCad battery, a Leisure quick charger and a Trinity monster stock motor. I also was able to get a Novak speed control, full ball bearing set, Lexan body, and one other item that the big bear needed which was a case saver. It was a metal part that prevented the gear case from flexing and stripping out the gears. It was tremendous fun and I still love truck racing today.

Ive had the same Castle 1800KV motor in my Losi 8ight for about 8 years now. I like it because I have some 6S 3300mah batteries from my RC planes that I can use as practice packs. I dont change the gearing between practicing with a 6S and racing with a 4S.

Hey Roach, just a quick note on the Mayako body shells - they actually have 2 styles of shell. One has the little 'wings' along the side (like yours), and the other is totally flat. It's not for me to say how much difference this makes though - only just got into RC racing a few months ago!

Just discovered this channel and i'm already recomending it to everyone. Rally high quality content. Love the calm voiceover. Can you recommend any videos about getting into nitro racing with beginner and money friendly kits/motors? (good quality, doesn't need to be the best performer, relatively cheap)

Congrats on the 1MIL!! 🙌🏼Woot-woot🙌🏼 I don't run 8th scale but I'm still super new and all the info is much appreciated. I really enjoyed the explanation on the servo choice and putting more emphasis on driving practice vs dumping money into expensive shiny bits and bobs. I keep referring back to your video on the mental game involved in racing. The few times I've been on the driver's stand i try to stay calm but it's definitely a challenge.... Especially when I get nervous and mistakes keep happening 😂

Higher KV motors should have just as much torque as lower KV motors that are otherwise comparable. High KV just draw more current when providing that torque.

Carbon fiber towers will flex more than aluminum towers and that's why they are (or at least were) only used in the rear. As for the titanium t-rods, provided it is quality Ti-6Al-4V grade 5 (think Lunsford) then it will perform better than the kit tie-rods w/ an exception to Serpents ti rods which are a spring steel alloy and the Ti-6Al-4V will only slightly out perform these because of its ductile properties over steel. But w/ this all said 1/10 t-rods aren't as strong as a 1/8 t-rod and are more prone to bending because of its applied diameter and that's why they switched to 3.5mm t-rods. When you go up to 5mm thickness everything changes for the better w/ titanium, especially when length is put into the factor, ie: Truggy t-rods. Great vid, keep them coming and thanks.

Titanium is way stronger than steel. Its like the strength difference is like the difference between aluminum and steel.
@Glocktologist
@Glocktologist 13 күн бұрын
This really depends on the exact steel alloy and titanium alloy you’re comparing. Titanium in general has a way lower modulus of elasticity compared to steel, so they are easier to bend.
