Very nice events and videos. I have never seen such a truck sold in Japan, but are these kits sold? Or is it a self-made track?
@cwx375 жыл бұрын
All of these are self-made trucks, but many of them use standard components (axles, drivetrain etc.)

@@cwx37 Thank you for reply. After all, the best track is the best way to self-made.

Thank you, Mike :) . As I've already commented elsewhere, there are several racing events throughout the year. Season 2017 is already almost set. The event lasts for the whole day (i.e. 24hours :) ) with many day and night stages. The events are open to new competitors if their trucks comply with the rules. Spectators are always welcome ;) . Official page: www.rctr.estranky.cz Most of the trucks use some heavily modified stock RC components, many details can be found: facebook.com/rctruckracing Here is the beautiful historical white LIAZ: facebook.com/rcliaz The black Tatra was the only real Tatra in the field (uses realistic Tatra backbone chassis with swinging axles) and you may know it from some of my other videos You've already seen the red Ginaf and yellow LIAZ doing some fancy exhibition here ;) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6Wxpp-XoZhld9k

wow .I never knew this existed before but I really like the dakar rally and those man trucks. This was great to see.I always wanted one somehow but I cant make those bodies.When you see those trucks do they always have some kind of custom axles on their trucks?

Epic Models, very realistic Rally Stage!! I have never seen European Rally Trucks in R/C before - ANYWHERE. Just like the real counterparts, they're tall, lanky, top heavy - and look like they *shouldn't* work - but DO work, brilliantly! I'm in Arizona, US. We've got lots of sand, rocky terrain, and land features to make our own exciting version of the Dakar Rally here. Sounds like something that I need to create here!! Believe it or not, European Rally Trucks and Truck Road Racing are very popular to watch in the United States! 😎👍👍 It's exciting, and we have NOTHING like it here. The closest is the Baja 1000, but the vehicles are quite different. Most of us know how to acquire 4x4 chassis - except ones like the Tatra "Backbone" type..... Where did you get the Bodies? ? 😲 They're stunning, and true to Scale. Last question, 1/10th or 1/14th Scale? Murph
@cwx377 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Murphy. It's interesting to read such a nice comment coming from the opposite side of the world ;) . These models of Dakar race trucks can be generally divided into 2 categories: 1. ultra-lights (that what we call them ;) ) - these use just stock chassis from an existing RC truck and have a very light bodywork. 2. absolutely realistic models including chassis (not only the specific backbone chassis of Tatra, but also standard rectangular frames of the russian Kamaz etc.) Tatra chassis must be built from scratch, there is no vendor producing anything even remotely related. That includes the tube, spur differentials, final drive cases, swinging axles, suspension, gearboxes etc. Basically, here in the Czech Republic model builders are very skilled, so many of us just make also the bodywork on our own. Scale of our trucks is 1/14 or 1/13.5
@jamurphy83867 жыл бұрын
You REALLY know your stuff! *SCRATCHBUILD* a Tatra Backbone Chassis? 😲 Now THAT takes some skill. There is actually one manufacturer, selling an 8x8 Tatra Truck here in the Colonies, 1/14th Scale..... Very impressive but $2400.00US!! 😯 (average price we pay for off-road Truck is $300) VERY few Americans are creative anymore. They want everything Ready to Run these days... 😕 It's sad really, because we used to MAKE at least half of the World's items - before the current generation was born. My friend and I, both in our 50's have NEVER bought a RTR RC vehicle! We're proud of that. We are both Retired Auto Mechanics, and prefer working a box of parts into something nice. My friend is more of the scratchbuilder. He's also got a BEAUTIFUL Model Railway! He has scratchbuilt nearly half of the bodies on his 1/10th Scale Rigs. I will try doing one, one of these days.... Our current project is to take two of the HG P402 Roller Chassis kits (CHEAP, plastic frame R/C 4x4 kit), and actually turn them into something GOOD! (Pray for us!) Currently, my friend is in bad shape. He is Disabled. He just lost his oldest daughter (28), and the costs over the past few months, broke him and his family. I've been trying to help them on my own, but I don't bring in enough money. I set up a PayPal donation account in his name, and asked everyone he knew and his KZbin followers to help. The site even has automatic currency exchange conversion, and no fees..... *Nobody* helped. He only needs $417.00 more, so they don't get Evicted. So, after I get them back on their feet again, it's time to get to work on these! Can't wait! Murph

You guys should do Truck Trials as well!!! 👍👍
@cwx377 жыл бұрын
We do, even though our 1/14 models are a bit brittle (and it would be a shame to damage them), some of our off-road driving conditions may be considered truck-trial :) . However, our friends build Tatra models in scale 1/10 with an almost indestructible all-steel chassis especially for RC-truck-trial races (thus some of their models do not look as realistic as ours). You can even put a small child on the platform and drive him/her around ;) : kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=SSLeCWvSlDM
@cwx377 жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you are talking about - the same situation is in CZ now. Those of us, who rose up in communism, had to learn to build things on their own, not only RC models. But in the 90's everything changed, people are no longer forced to be creative and invent things from scratch. It is good and bad at the same time ... HG P402: that's an interesting item - I got this from a Chinese retailer and I really didn't expect it to last long. After a few runs I really fell in love with this car - even though it is plastic with only a few metal parts - WHEN DRIVEN LIKE A REAL Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse you can do it no harm in any conditions. It is even extremely capable in snow: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqDCopenfsiYi7M Sorry about your friend and family - we wish them all the best to get on their feet again soon!

Actually you are right - many of these race trucks are using too stiff suspension (without shock absorbers). Only the red GINAF has well balanced suspension. Very few more models behave smoothly over bumps. The black Tatra (actually the only real Tatra in the field with backbone chassis) also behaves well, but is too heavy for this loose sand. Moreover, it didn't have a powerfull motor at that time. Now it "flies" off-road :) .
