Instead of using the capacitance and the derivative of the voltage, why didn't you just divide the voltage by 30k to find the current? Using the convention you set up, the current flow direction would be obvious.

Your suggestion is also correct and easier. I wanted to drive home the voltage - current relationship in a capacitor, which is differential ie., the current is proportional to the derivative of the voltage.
