Genuinely the best RC video (on KZbin, not just from RC Kicks) Ive watched in ages! We need more RC market discussion rather than look at this new brushless basher…..

its so much of overpowered basher content on YT that its a relief that RCkicks do some other content and show of the reres and cars that usualy dont see the light of the day or that i where not aware of that existed.

I just checked and I can get a Top Force ReRe for just over $200 US which is a steal for a Tamiya with ball diff's, bearings, and (I believe) universals in the front. I'm tempted to get one to go with my Optima Mid ReRe that was considerably more expensive.

Great show! I agree on the RC10B6.4cc... the original RC10's have an iconic look at loads of nostalgia, but once they got into the B's I feel like they lost some of that unique look that makes for a great shelf queen. Also, what I'd really like from Team Associated is a regular classic RC10. No numbered chassis, no clear parts, but one I won't feel bad racing around and letting my kids drive. Of course, if I had my way, all cars would be versions of the RC10... remember the monster truck conversions way back when?

Good ideas there, while i miss a TA-01 and a M-01 rerelease from tamiya i think the best would be if they quickly redesign the bt-01 and mb-01 before bringing out anything else. and also best with a refit kit for the owners of these cars that fixes the slop issues.

It'd be great if R.C. community had their own equivalent to the retro computer/video gamers R.M.C cave. A museum where people can experience the history of the hobby, share memories & a nice track to race their own cars on. Maybe if it incorporated a hobbie shop and possibly a cafe, it could be a going concern?
@RCKickschannel7 ай бұрын
Yep you would need to have an RC shop, Cafe, KZbin studio, and 1/10th carpet track and if possible a drift track and crawler track. All these would help make it work but one person couldn’t do everything themselves. You need a few people to come together to make this viable.

Awesome vid Gavin. I agree with everything you've mentioned. Losi doesn't seem to care about the 1/10th scale vintage very much do they? As for Tamiya, Well they announced the Avante 2011 again, so that's something. It would also be nice if they re-re'd parts from older kits too. Imagine if they did a parts run for the 959?? People would go insane. Sadly I think we'll never see that kit again. Prices for them new unbuilt are extreme.

Losi won't do a 1/10 scale vintage release because it would cost way too much, I think. That was one of the reasons they said they went 1/12 scale with the Nascars. As for Raffalling off some of your gems, I think that would be a worthy investment.. but choosing which ones is the hard call. I'm learning a lot about the industry listening to someone who's 'been there done that'. I like a lot of Tamiya stuff, but I just saw a video of a Swimming Penguin RC they are releasing. Kyosho has a Datsun 240z rally version coming soon. Not really a tough choice there 😆
@momothemilkman7 ай бұрын
I don't think its an issue with cost for Losi. If you think about it the Mini Jrx2 and T had to be completely designed from scratch, but they just based it on the older models. Really not any more of expense designing slightly larger parts. Either way, I wish they would get with the times and do some rereleases.

Gavin great video i live here in the US and i watch more of the videos over in the UK over anything else i grew up racing 1/10 scale, and i still have some but the past 2 to 2 1/2 years all i have been racing is mini z’s 1/18 scale 1 rc cars and 1/16 scale cars as they are the most popular classes here in the US as so many tracks have closed. 1/10 and 1/8 are still popular here but racing has got so expensive here that most people can’t afford it anymore.

@RCKickschannel7 ай бұрын
Tomley lives further north so unit rental is a good chunk less expensive vs the south as well as his unit is too small for a 1/10th track. It’s a shame he’s not closer as I would go half’s with him as he’s not a bad twat on a big enough unit for a track
@Meenie667 ай бұрын
I like how schumacher do their re re's. They release the car in vintage form basically then if you want to go modern with it you spend more money on it and upgrade but for ppl like me who dont want to spend extra money and never got them back when they were originally released It gives the opportunity for an original build, and they are not anywhere near as expensive like buying some of the other brands....

Yes you are absolutely 110% correct on this. I hope Gavin takes notice of the good advice telling him to not sell his car collection. The track will have to be done slowly and it's going to take time, but once the vintage collection is gone that's it. Can never be replaced. DO YOU UNDERSTAND GAVIN.

If you raffle (a lot of) your collection to open a track, you'll end up bankrupt _and_ with no collection 😯 Seems like you need to be scrappy and work your way up with event organizing like you've been doing (I guess that takes forever), or get a club/society of members who commit and collectively crowd fund it (also risky), or do the sensible thing and just be born wealthy. It's an amazing dream and I hope you can figure out how to do it! But it's a big financial commitment so take care.

Great video, Tamiya is overpriced in the UK by miles. I buy all my kits from Europe and parts from japan and prices are much more realistic. I have TRF421 on pre-order (and paying far less that the insane UK prices) for a few reasons... parts prices for X-ray, Schumacher, Mugen, Awesomatix and Yokomo are all crazy prices. For instance you pay £30+ for a single arm from those companies. TRF 421 arms for a pair are less than half that about £12. They look different with the Blue Adonising everything else is all black and boring. The prototype car placed 7th at TITC, its first main event with the vast majority of the worlds best drivers in attendance and finally there's a great small group of guys that run TRF cars in the UK/Germany. The SRX again is a bit misunderstood and overpriced in the UK can get them from Europe for around £250. Its actually good value for the spec racing classes that you find in clubs that are for plastic tub cars like King of Clubs, Stafford GT classes etc. and have all the hop-ups you need are already in the kit and a lot cheaper than building up yourself from a type-s or standard TT-02. Finally Germany, USA and Asia all have Tamiya Cup events where the ta08R and SRX all make sense. The UK market for them has been killed off by distributors focusing on the hobby/modelling side rather than racing and not running such events.

I would not open up a track until after 2025. Economies all over the world are going to be in trouble and it is not a good time. If industrial areas stay vacant rents will go lower as well.
