The problem with the ducted fans on the bike wasnt drag, per se, it was that they were oriented perpendicular to the bike. When the bike took flight off the jump it wasnt parallel to the ground, it was nosewheel up, so the fans literally stopped it in mid air and it dropped like a rock.
@keldonator18 күн бұрын
Yea he need to use the brakes after leaving the jump to bring the nose down before activating the fans, could have been cool
@AdmiralThumbs18 күн бұрын
Yeah, I was gonna say this in counter to the explanation at 7:32 . The fans likely could work if they were designed to pivot to always be pointing perpendicular to the ground, instead of vectoring some of their thrust backwards when coming off of the ramp.

I expected better from him, is he losing his touch?
@meetim627112 күн бұрын
@@mickmuzzmkmz1628 I think the answer to that is kinda complicated. Humanity can be divided into two groups, the engineers and the rest. The engineers (of which I am one) have a particular focus on detail that the rest seem to lack. They dont know that they lack it, kinda like a goldfish doesnt know about the outside world. They focus on the end result and arent really too bothered about how they get there, or what it looks like when they get there. (I'm married to one...). To clarify, you dont have to be an actual engineer, you just have to think like one to be part of the group. As my engineering career progressed and I started mentoring younger engineers, this factor became very apparent, and I became adept at spotting it. So that's my take on it. Edit: as it applies to Peter, I think that in this case he is just churning through ideas and designs and not slowing down to think about the details. He might be one of 'the others', although are we always part of one group or the other? is the Venn diagram really two separate circles or is there some overlap?

And you you as well, sir. A true Regallo wing will create lift from forward motion. A kite, by its very nature cannot. It can convert the motion of falling to forward motion, but, as the saying goes, "That's all she wrote."

1)The hang glider was nose heavy. Almost no lift, and negative angle of attack on take off, Nice and light though, your best attempt in my opinion. try 15 % angle of incidence and adjust your balance backward a little. should work easy . 2)Another suggestion use 3 wheels. 3) On the delta wing you had negative angle of attack. 4) Other then the first one, your wings were top heavy 5) You should make them fly before you make them drive.

If you want the fireworks to go off simultaneously, you'd stand a better chance if you used quick fuse on the rockets and a regular 30-sec/ft cannon fuse to give you some time to gt into the air. Then when the slow fuse ignites the quick, the fireworks would theoretically all go at once.

Your mounted gliders do not have right angle of attack. you have installed them nose pointing down and thats why it does nothing but only pushing the bike further down even during jumps. if you set the angle right, even at straight run, when speed is right your bike will take off.

0:54. As the driven rear wheel is brought to a stop by the motor, does the torque cause the motorcycle to pitch forward and land on the front wheel? Is it possible to keep some power applied in the air to keep the front wheel up? Easier said than done, I’m sure.

@newmonengineering18 күн бұрын
So many things done wrong! Lots of fun. I would have definitely angled the fans forward 45 degrees to keep the attitude more favorable. The last wing design needed some small wheels on the tips to keep it from dragging. It would have worked better with a dangling design where the wing can move in relation to the weight of the motorcycle. A simple gyro based flight controller would probable have been a good idea to tune a servo to change the weight and thus steer the wing in relation to the motorcycle weight. But can you ever go wrong with fireworks attached to toys?

I've had a concept for a flying jet bike for some time now. The idea I had was that the rider could use their legs to actually lean in to rotate the aircraft like one would when actually riding to spoil the air over the wings. I have no idea if it would actually work but it's been a dream of mine to make it when I have the finances.

This one is simple. Start on flat ground and lay down a hot wheels track to help keep you straight. You could even glue a little extra to the sides if needed. If you sweep an old abandoned parking lot. For the price of some labor you are set. With a glow type of igniter you will have a very small chance of fireworks going off together. Use one sugar rocket instead with a glow starter you can set off.

Pretty sure the "ringing" you hear is the flywheel in the bike. Don't think an rc remote can interfere with a microphone, and if it would you'd hear it in all of his videos where he uses a rc vehicle
