A deep foundation is a type of foundation that transfers building loads to the earth farther down from the surface than a shallow foundation does to a subsurface layer or a range of depths. A pile or piling is a vertical structural element of a deep foundation, driven or drilled deep into the ground at the building site.

There are many reasons that a geotechnical engineer would recommend a deep foundation over a shallow foundation, such as for a skyscraper. Some of the common reasons are very large design loads, a poor soil at shallow depth, or site constraints like property lines. There are different terms used to describe different types of deep foundations including the pile (which is analogous to a pole), the pier (which is analogous to a column), drilled shafts, and caissons. Piles are generally driven into the ground in situ; other deep foundations are typically put in place using excavation and drilling. The naming conventions may vary between engineering disciplines and firms. Deep foundations can be made out of timber, steel, reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete.

Ah ok you are going to build a building on the sand. At the end you carry on with a random test on piles, to the resistance compression value?

@@adrianobonaldo8941 actually not on the sand. Just the land very near to the sea. Still soils but very soft. Depth of piling = 36meter. Yes , we did the PDA test. Not sure it’s the same with your country’s Btw , thank you to watching my channel. Hope you enjoy it

@@apertureofconstruction1739 oh yes dei sure. The test usually is carry on by differnt standard but is about the same procedures. I am living in a country where se got frequently earthquacke so every test for new building or bridges involve all the structural manifactures to garantee the quality and the performances according the project everything to reduce the maintence in the future. Good job

My country free of earthquake. I’m from Malaysia. ( Equator Zone ) But the building is designed and endorsed by civil engineer. It’s better and secured. It might be different of method but same procedure. Thank you 😊! At least a positive feedback. Appreciated

The splicing is useless.. it will corrode soon.. better use pipe duct for splicing to be poured with epoxy mortar for protection from corrosion..
