I would like to print these parts on my Snapmaker 3d printer. Is there a website that has the print commands one could download?

Interesting build! Wonder how you dealt with directional stability of your Pteranodon with the big head/side area ahead of center of gravity.
@TheWeevilGenius3 жыл бұрын
That was one of the biggest challenges as I didn't want any vertical fins. I ended up mounting the head on a pivot so the head simply weather vanes into the oncoming airstream.

The Weevil Genius Genius indeed. Very clever solution. Earns you a sub!😉

@@TheWeevilGenius how is yaw stability achieved? Have you tried flying without the head? Without the legs?
@TheWeevilGenius2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the head was the hardest part. I ended up allowing it to feel pivot with its own CG behind the pivot point like a weather vane. This made the head side area mostly invisible to the model. Wing sweep got enough area and drag behind the CG to keep it all pointed into the airstream. Control is elevons with the aileron inputs only moving moving the surface up. No down aileron throw. Down aileron creates drag which results in adverse yaw. Very bad for a finless flying wing.

really cool but wishd it could've flapped a little bit to give a more normal appearance

Great job! Do you think there is anyway to direct the sound upward or shield it from going downward? I’m looking forward to seeing the fossil record!! Lol Btw, your sheet metal bender and this video made me subscribe. Thanks!! Mark
@TheWeevilGenius3 жыл бұрын
Happy you liked the videos and thanks for subscribing! Probably no way to redirect the sound. The next larger model will be able to slope soar so no engine or propeller needed for continuous flight. Sheet metal bender video is my most popular. I have a couple more like that I'm thinking about. Fossil record so far not yielding any positive results but I'm still hopeful! ;)

Nice! Add a fish in the mouth for canards to stabilize?

Honestly, if you could switch the fan off in flight and have it still glide at a normal gliding speed but ‘quietly’ over a crowd of people they would think that was real!

Hey Charlie pretty cool, but I doubt that the real Pteranodon had a fan up its ass. Although maybe they ate a lot of beans and had a more natural propellant.

@@terryfield2364 Thanks! I learned a lot on this one. Control and stability were a challenge. Note the reflex in the wing airfoil and elevons only pitching up. Feel free to email me if you have questions.

@@TheWeevilGenius wow that thing is actually formed in your own brain then brought to life like that with 3d printers and other tools? That’s encouraging for the future creativity freedom of artists like yourself. When we have the technology, anything will be possible to build- but only if there’s still a great mind behind it like you show here. The otero is very lifelike, but seems to be moving too fast for a glide? A slower glide would make people think they actually saw the real thing! The fun you could have with that!
