After trying out the big bang conversion on my RC36, I had the idea to see if it would work on my RC24 .....

Any chance we could hear the RC36 running?

If you move one set of cams by 180 degrees on a VTR1000F the bike still runs fine at low revs but also hits a brick wall at 7000rpm like your RC24. Maybe something to do with harmonics within the airbox interfering?
@TheFlyingDuckTheory2 жыл бұрын
it is entirely possible, however, the airboxes on the 24 and the 36 are very similar and the 36 had no trouble revving to its full potential. I am building an RC24 special so may give it another try when we havin it up and running.

Hi How was the performance changed on the rc36, pull better in low to mid range, lose some from the top? . I ask as I wish to do similar with my gpz900r a bit more difficult as cams will have to be cut and welded Great informative vid Keep up the good work

It pulled better from the line and felt more like it was 'digging in' on the rear when accelerating out of corners. Top end seemed to be much the same. Exhaust note changed though. Be a little more cautious doing this conversion with an inline 4 though. The VFR crank is very narrow and so is more resistant to twisting. Good luck though if you do go ahead with it 👍

Read up on the differences of an inlne 4 & V4 motor ... what you're proposing can't be done, it'll just smash the motor to bits, this 180 cam flip can only be done on a V4, it can't be done on a fuel injected V4 either as it won't ever run, it'll only ever work on a Carb'd V4.

How do you solve spark ignition?
@TheFlyingDuckTheory3 жыл бұрын
It's a wasted spark system. It utilises the spark that exists on the original exhaust stroke instead.
@Desmodromic9163 жыл бұрын
@@TheFlyingDuckTheory So it sparks like two stroke? Every full rotation of crank - one spark

@@Desmodromic916 yes.

Any idea if this can be done with a 98 VFR800?
@TheFlyingDuckTheory3 жыл бұрын
@@RetroSuperbikes no clue. I would think unlikely given it is fuel injected and the coils will only spark when they need to. The reason it works on the 750 is because it is carbed and has a wasted spark system.

Los cigueñales de rc30 y rc 36 son diferentes...has cambiado configuracion y sera algo big bang pero sin prestaciines...gracias

It has never been the intention to increase the power this way. The point was A, to see if it worked, B, what it would go like and C, just for the fun of it. On the 36 it pulled really well. No it wasn't any faster overall but it was more fun to ride. On the 24 it just didn't seem to work. I have a theory why but no proof.

What about spark do you just switch the plugs ?
@TheFlyingDuckTheory3 жыл бұрын
You don't touch the plugs. It's a wasted spark system.

Precedent owner make this mod on my 950 KTM. Cause premature wearing

Is your KTM a V4?
@martinotalotti898610 ай бұрын
@@TheFlyingDuckTheory no, is a 950 se from 2007.

Then that could be why it had premature wear. I ran my road bike for two years in this configuration with no issues.

@@TheFlyingDuckTheory maybe isn't the only reason. But really big bang in that motor gives kicks
