I used to run my 2004 RC51 on the track over in Hawaii before they closed it, and my front wheel would never come up when I'd pull hard out of a turn, even the one right before the straight away where most people's wheels got up. Man, I'm fighting to get mine back. The VA illegally towed it from me, I got the charges dismissed, but the towing company refused to give it back without me paying, and the cops wouldn't come make them give it back, since they get kickbacks from them. There's gotta be a way to force that fucking company to give it back, as they are blatantly breaking the law by failing to return the bike to the rightful owner, storage of stolen property, bike theft, extortion for forcing me to pay when CA law says if there's a dismissal or aquittal the owner owes no towing or storage fees. I have a carbon fiber/magnesium dymag on the rear wheel, sato racing banzai carbon fiber exhaust, PC3 which had been dyno'd, and several other parts I paid a lot for. I should just find out where it's being hidden, use my key to take it back, but I'd need help. I just had to say this in a group of RC51 lovers. That bike is my baby, and we've been through a lot together since I got her brand new out of the box in 2004. Anyone with any ideas would be greatly appreciated! If the channel reads this, can you pin this comment please? Thank you much!

@@jetstream01 Most so called motorcycle attorneys mostly just do cases involving a rider being in an accident that is not their fault. I actually have been hit and run twice in the last two months, unfortunately not the only two times it's happened. I got lucky on the second one though. I managed to keep the bike up after a girl driving a pickup decided to change lanes without looking or signaling and I was right next to her. She knocked me over two lanes but I regained control in between two cars during heavy traffic in LA. I waited for her to pull up next to me, and rather than ask if I was ok, she yelled at me because her side mirror broke, and of course didn't pull over. Unreal how some people can be.

I took mine to my first track day ever (been racing smaller bikes- this the first on proper metal!) this year, she's 100% original except sound enhancement- gotta say I loved it plentifull- little bit on the heavy side, flicking through turns on a rather small circuit is not what she's made for- but HELL what a good ride she was, flawless, stable, quick, gentle, and millions of other things.....she will be a keeper for ever!!

sounds like you really enjoyed the experience! I always tell people the same thing-the RC51 isn't the fastest, best handling, or lightest bike you can buy, but it's definitely a BLAST to ride. The sound... the grunt off the corners. It's hard to beat! So where's your video??

No intake is stock, all I did was unplug the flapper valve in there. As far as exhaust goes, I think the Satos are the best sounding one out of the brands I've heard, but since they're not made any more they're very expensive and hard to find. The Yosh ones sound more droney I guess and the Satos feel like someone is pounding your chest. I've heard good things about the Ladybird Titanium exhaust they sell on ebay though.

The Gopro is on a chin mount on my helmet. I have it in a skeleton case so I can run the external mic from it to the brake reservoir.

Lotsa torque equates to punching it early as you come outta the corner.....try it. These things squat down and DRIVE...hard outta corners. This is why Dukes etc excelled so well during Super Bike. Trust me...punch it hard as you begin the exit...and feel it push back hard and fast. This is where you pick up speed on other bikes....Cheers.
@jetstream014 жыл бұрын
Very true! I would've heeded this advice if I was willing to risk the bike...but the parts for that thing were literally impossible to find, so I always took it easy on track. But it was such a blast to ride. Sold it and have a Tuono now, which has the same characteristics really! And if you watch my Buttonwillow video on the Tuono I posted recently, you'll see me almost high side from getting on the gas TOO much out of corners 😆

It's a v twin. Probably the best sounding one of all time actually.

How do these run compared to modern L bikes?
@jetstream016 жыл бұрын
James Thomas from a red light I can almost keep up with modern liter bikes, but once we get to 4th or 5th gear it's not even close. It does pull REALLY hard in 2nd and 3rd, which is a lot of fun. Down the straights at Buttonwillow I'm only a little faster than new 600s.

can anyone explain the comment about the 'sound booth' and having to throttle off - much obliged
@jetstream018 жыл бұрын
Between turns 5 and 6 on that little uphill straight there's a sound booth that measures the decibel output of each bike. Many bikes (mine included) can't go through there at full throttle because it's too loud. It's extremely stupid and kind of kills the whole track day because you can never get a true lap in unless you have a stock exhaust.
@unibike698 жыл бұрын
thank you jet - was kind of thinking that - stupid and frustrating - if I had to throttle off on mine (04 RC51) I'd end up escorted off on amateur days - ride safe sir

What kind of suspension work have you done to the bike?

andymcdo None, just replaced the fork seals when they went bad. Handles great as is!

Hey Jetstream, great riding! Just confirming but assume you are also on the stock spec 16/40 sprockets and chain? I saw in another post that you are 6'2", what do you weigh roughly? Looking at buying an 03' RC and just collecting info! Seems that most track go-er's adjust in some way from the stock suspension... just curious!
@jetstream017 жыл бұрын
Scott Whitescarver Thanks! And yes, stock sprockets and stock suspension. I did have a guy set up the suspension at the track once but he just cranked some preload into the rear and that's pretty much it. The bike feels really good at the track so I've never felt the need to change it, although I'd love to upgrade the suspension just for the fun of it. And yes I'm 6'2" about 200 lbs and the bike fits me perfectly. I have really long arms though so that helps the body position not be so forward.
@scottwhitescarver11327 жыл бұрын
Hey if it ain't broke! Thanks for the input, it seems like your the perfect size for it. At about 5'10" 155, arm span equal to height I've never had problems fitting on a bike before but the RC seems like a different animal and a bit heavier than my last buell xb12 and zx6r. I found an 03' RC with only 4k miles on it 20 minutes away so have to go give it a look. Besides being on the heavy side I can't find anything I don't like about these bikes yet, at least on paper.

015 for the first time hence my reviewing the videos on you tube about the rc51 , from what i see you did better than hold your own you were all but dominating the other riders on the track and from my limited saddle time on the rc51 i can see why . great footage i enjoyed it
@jetstream019 жыл бұрын
Luis Azuola glad you enjoyed it man. I was riding in B group, so that's really the only reason I was faster than most. In A group there were plenty of people that were faster. But impressive for the RC51 for sure!

@jetstream019 жыл бұрын
+Luis Azuola Congrats man! and nothing wrong with a bike that needs a little love. I'm sure it will still run strong. I don't really have any spare parts as I haven't replaced anything on it really. But eBay is a great source.

why were you holding back? turn 3,4,5,6 always holding back. that's where I eat up people(except for that lil dip in 5 which can disrupt someone) otherwise great vid.
@jetstream019 жыл бұрын
Between 5 and 6 they had the sound booth, so I couldn't go through there full speed with my Satos. turn 5 I was dragging elbow through so no holding back there!
@thestumaji6569 жыл бұрын
yea that booth does suck. What other tracks do you run? My local is willow springs.
@jetstream019 жыл бұрын
+William Stewart Falconer I've only run Buttonwillow and Laguna Seca. I'm from Fresno so Buttonwillow is closest to me, but I play to run Sonoma and Thunderhill as well. Willow Springs is still up and running?

what exaust do you run?
@jetstream018 жыл бұрын
I have a set of carbon fiber Sato Bansais, but I don't run them on the track for fear of messing them up. So I bought a pair of scruffy Yosh RS3s (I think) and found a good power commander map to go with them. This bike has a loud and mean sounding intake which is what you mostly hear in the videos.
