Here's something I've been wondering- I see a lot about fisheye lenses, but what about anamorphic lenses? Did anybody ever make a 50mm-ish sized anamorphic adapter we could bolt to one of these? I keep seeing some for gopros and mobile phones in the modern era, but was this ever a thing for VHS and video8? I shoot both video and film so I'd probably find a way to use it on my super8 or 16mm cameras too xD

I don’t think anamorphic lenses were a thing back then and I think now the closest you get is a dslr lens

@@brandoncameracollection oh but they were, just not for video >.< there was actually a trend in the 50s and 60s of dejur and a few other brands making anamorphic lenses and adapters for C mount and D mount cameras, most likely for double 8mm and 16mm cameras. But by the super 8 era this became much less common :/ I just want funky stretched VHS footage hehe :3

Yeah you could do that but the filming experience isn’t the same. But yes these full sized vhs cameras are definitely a little too big for filming skateboarding or other action sports. But I certainly thought it was fun to film with
