This decision is now slowing me down.... Is water going too be an issue? I think it's best we schedule some RCA time to do a quick Root Cause Analysis and make sure it is actually SNOW WATER that caused our issue.. Would hate to see it happen again after all this extra work!!!
Who knows? Maybe I made a mistake and caused all this damage? Lets find out!
Thanks for tuning into the Dares Drives channel, make sure you hit that subscribe and like button and also leave a comment below to let me know you were here.. AFTER ALL.. It Is completely free and it means the world to me!!! Plus you will get to see what happens next in this crazy journey we call life!!

Great video. You’re a busy man with a lot going on. Keep the videos coming. I like that you share your mishaps. It’s a great teacher. Good to see your videos starting to come a little more frequently. Going to be starting my own project soon. Not sure if I’ll KZbin it or not. That seems like it takes a lot of time.

Had the same problem with laundry detergent spilling on the laminate floor of my condo. Destroyed the boards.

You are pretty upbeat with the problems. I sometimes feel like my van will never get done when theses things happen. I spent 3 weekends trying to find a leak. Once the problem is solved though I can’t wait to get back on it.

... Putting the adhesive in lines just on the struts only would have saved a lot of the glue ...

Those type of hose clamps are notorious for this. The do not clamp evenly under the worm gear. Go and look at a new car, you will never find one of these. But they are easier for Auto Parts stores and Hardware stores to stock these as they only need a few sizes.
@SoCalKevin
@SoCalKevin 2 жыл бұрын
Yup they don’t clamp evenly unless you lube them up so they can move as they tighten. Otherwise they just kinda pinch one side

had similar issues with hose clamps leaking in a home brew setup. If this is something that will not be changed often, I would suggest investing in oetiker clamps.

@@derekp6636 I've never figured out how to remove those type of clamps. They're pretty much permanent right?
@derekp6636
@derekp6636 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-cr6ki4qs4y you have to cut them to release the pressure and remove, single use clamps. Really good for keg lines and things that don't change often.

I used ikea metod kitchen cabinets in my van build. I also cut the back of all the cabinets to fit the contour of the walls. Any exposed chipboard on the edges of the panels where I cut or at the back was painted with a generic sealer. I was told that these heavy ikea chipboard panels would not hold up in the van. It's been over 6 years with no issues. I've even spend long periods above the snowline for months with no problems. In your case I would maybe consider running a very thin bead of silicone between the panels and the floor so that any spills don't get in behind or underneath the panels.

the edges of the panels if cut will be like spunge and if it does dry out, the wood still loosed up, and next time it case of rinse and repeat as to your vav design how about some sort of drip pan, area under what ever might leek with drain if you don't can the idear, emptying it or even checking it

Tried ordering the panels but seems they only sell thicker ones now. Sucks because it seems like the best option.

Thanks for the RCA. Because of your videos I gained the confidence I could DIY the Rixens system. What clamp did you initially use on the hose? My Rixens system came with black crimp clips, and I mostly used these instead of the screw clamps like you showed in this video. Thanks for the help!

No, the coolant was! Change the coolant to water! I have a similar system and would not use coolant because if that system leaks or brakes you will have coolant going everywhere!!!!!......Look what a small leak did to yours and your vans is not even finished yet!!!!

Two problems with that. Obviously it is for a heater and will likely be used where temps are freezing. Water will freeze when not being used or when stored. Water also causes corrosion to metal parts, especially aluminum used in radiators and heat exchangers
@des2610
@des2610 2 жыл бұрын
@@rongreen1199 Thanks for that and they are good points. Fortunately for me I live in a climate that doesn't freeze water during winter time and my heat exchangers, tanks, etc. are stainless steal, thick aluminum, brass and rubber. I only have one air/water exchanger that is aluminum which is easily replaced if it corrodes.
@des2610
@des2610 2 жыл бұрын
@@rongreen1199 Another though. If just water is used for coolant in the coolant/heating system and it freezes then what about the rest of the hot water/useable water system in freezing temps, won't it freeze too? Don't you put this whole system inside the van so its not exposed to these freezing temps? If you use coolant in the coolant/heating system, then what good is that if the usable water system freezes?
@rongreen1199

Many of your followers are in the north, like me in Chicago. We have to use antifreeze. It would just make more sense to double clamp hoses up here. Hard line is a possibility but makes it harder for servicing. Either way, up here we do not have the luxury of using water.
