with the corrugated plastic throughout the whole van, are you experiencing a lot of static electricity buildup? does the paint mitigate it?

You will see the biggest difference when you are using very low water volume such as rinsing your hands or dishes.... Your pump won't turn on and off on and off on and off.

A variable speed pump also may mitigate pulsations as well all as higher element pump, 4or 5 being smoother. And a hot water tank [not instant on] also acts like an accumulator. So concur with conclusion

Thanks for the education Jeff! I've added it to my notes; buy a higher end pump and skip the accumulator. (Wisdom won on the cheap. Well, for me, and others anyway.)

I use copper rings for all my pex, EXCEPT a few I simply could not get the crimper on once installed. You cannot do all crimps before installing, or at least I couldn't, so I used the pinch clamps and tiny little crimper with great success. I've never had a leak from either type of crimp and I have 40,000 kms on the rig so far since...

An accumulator is to prevent the pulsating. That is it, but that is important, or was to me...

He demonstrated that with this pump, there is no pulsating without the accumulator.
@owenparker6651
@owenparker6651 4 күн бұрын
@@tcbrowntx Understood. I was just stating that is what the accumulator does. If it is not needed, as is the case with some pumps, well, then it does nothing and you shouldn't bother. Right?

Need for an accumulator depends as well on the pipe run, I didn't use one but after rerouting my pipes I had banging and pulses to the flow, so I had to fit one 👍

I have a Lilie waterpump in my current selfbuild van, that doesn´t require an accumulator due to its unique internal "plumbing". It is also extremely silent. In my old motorhome I used to have one of the regular pressure pumps (shurflo I think) and it has no accumulator either. It worked fine, but a later test with accumulator proved it worked better without pulsating. But compared to the Lilie is was noisy.

Our 2019 diy is so very similar to yours. Including the side shower. The one feature we added based on experience is to put shut off valves for each line headed to outlets. What’s easy to troubleshoot in the shop can be a family disaster at night in the rain with hungry kids, etc. This way we can terminate one and keep rolling. The more you use and push your rig it seems to create leaks.

Water pressure is good, but with a max of 20 gallons per side you want a shower head that will reduce the flow. A five minute shower at 3 gallons per minute drains your 20 gallon tank of 15 gallons.
@DaresDrives
@DaresDrives 18 күн бұрын
@@jeffsteinmetz7188 your response is not wrong but, you don’t leave the shower water going constant. Flip switch to get wet or rinse. Close switch while soaping, etc. switch will keep water temp the same but not waste water.

use a metal braided hose that screws directly on to the pump. plastic and clamps is very weak connection. especially using a gear clamp on your pump. gear clamps have a tendancy to losen with time and vibration. your pex crimps have been banned in canada residental and commercial use. i highly suggest you use crimp rings.

@@BC-ne2yn pex B clamps banned? U sure about that? Clamps were purchased in Canada at HD Poly B was banned in Canada, very different product. Never had an issue with gear clamps personally, but won’t say it couldn’t happen.

@@DaresDrives let me re-phrase - your pex ratched clamps (or b clamps as your refering) are. im not refering to your pipe. you should be using pex crimp rings, or whirsbo. you wont see any plumber using those for the last 15 years. im sure they will be fine as long as its not on rigid pex pipe with plastic fittings. never use plastic fittings on conntections. obviously some of your connections are like the pump but avoid on water installtions where your crimp. i personly would not rely on gear clamps in a vibration prone enviorment.

Well, along with anything you research when doing a build of any sort, you will find many ways of doing things and for the most part it comes down to personal choice or availability in your local area. I will say, I have now invested many hours researching this topic further based on your comments and do not see anywhere saying these pinch clamps have been banned! I would appreciate you sharing where you found this info and I will discuss with our viewers. Possibly even change the design if this is in fact true. I will say all the RV’s I’ve owned and many were newer models, all used these style of crimps on the water lines and never had an issue. Thanks for watching and providing input!!
