VERY well done. I’ve looked at several options and this is by far the best I’ve seen as far as a spent primer hopper, feed and detail. MOST just show the end results and not how anything was constructed.

RCBS should pay you for their flawed design for primer discharge it looks like they should buy your idea and include this with all their presses since Lee has the Classic Cast discharging in the center of the ram with a tube. Very impressive invention. Great job!

I have a JR2 and built this system....after learning how to solder (sort of) and trial and error on tubing. I have the copper tubing but decided to use brass and 45 degree joints instead because I can go pretty much straight down on the outside or the frame housing the ram. Works perfectly.

American ingenuity at it's finest. I did some bartering for the same RCBS press to knock out primers and keep my other sizing and seating press clean from powder residue and other by-products of firing shells. My solution wasn't nearly as elegant or creative and took no engineering skills such as your setup, simply a trash can underneath. It is entertaining while doing such a mundane job as knocking primers out to watch the primer plunge downwards bounce off the press and almost every time land in the trash can. LOL

A question I have is why did you use the spent casing for the top portion? Seems like the tube going all the way up with the cutout below would work just as well and eliminate having to solder that on to the tube. Just curious as to that.

It was just a piece of range brass I picked up when I started thinking about the idea, the case wall is thinner and therefore easier to cut the slot out of. Also, sometimes, some of the primers come out with quite a bit of zing to them and when they hit the inside of the brass case (aka the catcher) some have bounced out. It's rare, but I'm glad I went with the extra space of the .300winmag case, because the small space of just the 3/16th in tubing by itself would have exacerbated the bounce out problem.
