Great review & info. Too many negatives for me to consider: small size, non scale grill (I know the 7 slot is under) & fenders & out of proportion somehow. High mounted motor, no oil in the shocks, etc. I'm being picky, but for $500 there are a lot of other rigs to choose from. Too bad because I really am a Jeep guy. I was looking forward to a super scale JK hard body.

This rig is really growing on me. I like the fact the regular grill is hidden behind the protective screen. As for scale drivers. Diamond select toys, NECA movie figures are two very decent options. Lots of people also use the WWE wrestling figures. But it's difficult to find plain clothed figures from that line.

Definitely the end-points. Those RC4WD servos aren't the strongest but they've been reliable. That's a huge servo arm to move the shifter only a 1/4. I have one of the oldest Trailfinders you'll see on the internet...I bought mine very early in production...I'm telling you...I've gone through my share of shift servos many years ago.

This truck isn't small, others are really big! Anyway here's my first thoughts on this truck: -Performance suffers for the sake of realism, which is neither good or bad. Personally, I believe that a lotta RC trucks overperform compared to their full scale counterparts. -Having the motor that high can result in a incredibly high CG. If this is a problem on this truck is hard to say yet, I haven't seen it at extreme angles yet. -Seperate spring and shock: MAJOR bonus points! Shame they aren't oil filled shocks though. -only comes as RTR (for now). This is extremely bad. For a lotta people, including me, building a rig is atleast half the fun of RC. Plus you're paying for a lotta stuff that's gonna be swapped out later like electronics.

Hey Hayley, Happy New Year! would love to see a update video on your Axial Capra with a trail run? Watched the build, upgrades and Airbrush vids but would really love to hear how you got on out on the trail with it and what you think? Thought your build, upgrades and colour scheme were spot on!!! Keep looking at buying one but would really value your take on its performance compared to your TRX4? Thanks and keep up the great work!!

Excellent video, and nice touches with the black trim lines and matte clearcoat - which even works on Lexan RTR bodies to make them look more realistic. I did my Vaterra K10 after painting the hood in black and my silver TRX-4 Defender after painting the roof white, and it totally improved their appearance. I'm personally not a fan of the Cross Country Black Rock body, but I do like the new chassis - the rails are VERY sturdy, being done like structural girders (check around 3:58 by the rear crossbar), and I like the separation of the coils from the shocks, which bodes well for this chassis to be also used with leafs down the road. The body mount system and opening hood are also nifty touches. I do wish they'd lower their engine mount, but if you run a Holmes Stubby Puller Pro or Revolver that does help offset it a little. RC4WD makes vehicles that have suspensions that cycle more realistically over the terrain, and have more body roll - again, more like driving a 1:1, which I like. As far as the cloned Jeep-style body, practically every RC manufacturer is guilty of this, but it helps keep cost down in this already expensive hobby. Pro-Line has done it many times - witness the Sumo Suzuki Samurai clone , the Rock Van Dodge B-Series clone, the Metric Toyota Tacoma clone, and so on. Vanquish did it with their IH Scout clones (funny that Redcat licensed theirs!), Axial with their UMG10 Unimog clone, Trail Honcho Toyota clone, and Dingo Land Rover clone. Element, Cross, and Gmade tend to stick with more generic bodies, but there are exceptions. Traxxas is really the only company licensing all their realistic crawler bodies - Vaterra is now dead (unfortunately), Tamiya has no real crawler chassis to speak of, Kyosho is only making smaller than 1-10th scale crawlers and HPI only has one vehicle, the Venture FJ. Frankly, I am not very concerned that Jeep isn't getting a licensing fee for many of the various Jeep-style bodies out there in the hobby-grade and toy-grade RC market - they make PLENTY of money licensing their name all over the world. My only reason for disliking the Black Rock is that I don't think it looks all that great, RC4WD has done many better in the past. I'm sure we'll see better on this new chassis soon! Happy New Year... 👍

Seems like a solid rig. The 2 speed isn't my realm but that's ok. Not sure we need another jeep on the trail but that's ok as well, ha. Im hoping rc4wd will break the mold here soon. Same as it ever was, but when ya have a decent product I guess there isn't a lot of push to make something great. Not sure anyone can topple the vs410 anyway. All in all another quality rig from rc4wd, not a performance rig but scale is more their world. Shift servos are a joke, my dig servo on my gladiator shifted one time and that was it, yet the diff servos in my summit never been maintained and still shift after 10 years. Stick with the traxxas mini blues for shift servos if ya can't go full size, ha

6" action figures are a fair representation of the average human height in 1/10 scale and there is a massive selection of 6" figures available compared to other sizes. I'd be embarrassed to admit how long it took me to find that information and then select a figure. lol

It's(the knock-off jeep) probably more 1/10th than anything Axial. 1/10 is smaller than you think. A Clodbuster is 1/10th and so is the Tamiya Blackfoot body. Axial's Jeep(and most of Pro-Line)is more 1/9th scale. RC4WD Mojave Toyota body boarders on 1/7th-1/8th by measurement...its a mini truck and it's the same size as most my other rigs.
