James had one of the more hard-headed cars, Jeremy had the most reliable, being that it's an older Hilux, and Hammond had the right shape of boat, but forgot to add ventilation for the engine so that it could breathe and not overheat.

This was the first episode I ever watched of British Television, I just arrived to Britain to learn English, didn't speak a word and I was there for 4-5 months as a 10 year old. And they were showing this episode, it was a re-run since it was 2010. This episode is particularly close to my heart because when I arrived, I couldn't understand a thing and when I left I watched it again, now understanding everything.

This challenge was the first one i saw when i discovered Top Gear on the early days of youtube. Someone had upload it in bits, it was like 5 different videos. I thought he had cut off some bits so i looked for the torrents and found Final Gear. The rest is history, i got absolutely hooked and watched every episode hundred times since then. One of the happiest memory i have from those days

These earlier versions of the challenges have their own golden tinges as they seems more genuine. Genuine in a way that the mishaps are all unplanned, and it feels that there isn't a script. I still enjoyed watching the newer ones mind you, but these older ones are just more likeable for me.
