Traxxas style ball bearings have a blue plastic ring you can pry off. Once the blue ring is popped off the bearing......pack it with marine grease and pop the blue ring back on the bearing. also for tires, another option is to take a soldering iron and burn 2 pin holes into tread of tire on opposite sides and the water will fling out. The rubber melts around the tip of the gun and is pretty sturdy. Doesn't rip when pizza cutter happens on 4s

Great video once again!!! So important to care for your RCs properly. Just did some really fun wet bashing my last vid to later find my ESC fan not coming on. Might've just popped a tad loose, but the connector seemed sullied. Once I carefully cleaned it, on she went!!! Clicked the CorrosionX link in your vid description. Had already heard good things about it, but you've pushed me over the edge...Lol!!! Thanks RC Girl for another very helpful video. Bashing in sand and snow is hardcore in my book.🙋🙋😨😨😱😲😲😵😎💪👊👊

Here in the Uk I use GT85 spray lubricant with PTFE (made by WD40) to drive out moisture from all the suspension componants, I see so many R/C cars with rusty driveshafts and metal componants from neglect, its good to see someone making an effrort to keep the moisture out of their Models.

Great video, keep up the good work. I would add that occasionally you should take the brushless engine apart and clean inside it because fine mud can travel through the bearing seals and into the motor. I killed a Slash motor and an E-Revo that way. Enjoy winter folks it's 36C or 87F here tomorrow :)

It's easy to follow along with you or should I say follow you. T'anks!, for the video. I do use the same stuff, but later on I started using different methods and products. One thing you can do is use Permatex Dielectric Grease on the connectors to waterproof them. Keep up the good work. 😙

Wow. R.c. Girl getting serious! Nice video. Interesting approach. What about lubing the bearings. Maybe marine grease also in the servo if it's not waterproof. Now to do the after run maintenance video. Might hit the hinge pins with that spray Corrosion X. Are diff fluid filled? Thought about going brushed for the water running.

Hi Haley - Just wondering why people don't just cover their Rx,ESC and servo cases with light coat of RTV clear Silicone then use a marine grease on any wires or gears that exit those cases? Not sure it would work but I've done this on electrical contact switches outdoor power switches and worked great for years and silicone is not to hard to peel off plastic if repairs are needed. Think I'll try it on my DHK Zombie 8e & let you know! FYI Hobbywing says when using their WP ESC series they recommend removing the ESC's cooling Fan when planing on driving through water and ESC will survive fully submersed! So they say? : ) Great Video by the way! : )

Thanks for the waterproofing tips. Never knew about the Corrosion X Spray. Ordered that off your link to Amazon. Will use on the servo I got for my TRX-4. Also wanted to ask you, would adding glue to the air holes on the tires be ok? Wouldn't this hold up better then tape? Thought I would ask you if there is a reason as to leave the air hole open in the future for something? If not going in water will the vent in the tires allow for better gripping on rocks?? Again a great Video!!
@RCGirl
@RCGirl 6 жыл бұрын
Dave Consalvi gorilla tape is pretty tough and also removable but I guess some type of glue might work. If you won't be going in water you can keep them open so they conform and compress/decompress when you're running it. But if you do want to run in water you can squeeze the tires a bit THEN tape them (give it negative pressure). Helps with gripping for sure.
@Dave-us6yu
@Dave-us6yu 6 жыл бұрын
RC Girl Thanks! Sound advice, as I like the advice of negative pressure in the tires for added traction. Will go with the gorilla tape when doing some stream exploring!, Thanks for the help! Looking forward to your next video, and dog included! :)

Wow Your Car is so Clean , I could eat my Dinner off the chassis . Mines Full of Crap . I’ll get around to cleaning it at Some point . We don’t really Have winters like yours In UK,. I have Sticky Back Velcro around the bottom of the Body Shell And The Plastic tub Chassis. It keeps it mostly closed in , I was once as meticulous as you , I used to race at a Local Club in a Stables , track was marked out with heavy ropes and the ground was light Dust,/dirt. Very slippy I used Schumacher pin spike tyres blue compound I think . My Kyosho Lazer zxr ii, was a great buggy in its day it had saddle pack 3 x2 cells , slipper clutch , ball diffs , I ran a 10x2 brushed with a Tekin ESC , Sad thing is I sold it years ago now I want it . But yeah we’d have 3 races each night for 5mins with a transponder to give lap times and lap info. We’d have to marshal the next Race before being allowed to tinker with our cars . Then before the following meet I’d strip the car clean the bearings put some oil in them , spray the motor can and use a fibreglass pen to rub the carbon from the armature . I cooked yet another ESC a Modelsport Trident XT-12 running a LRP V10 12X2 Turn Motor . (Oh well) . I surrender! . I put a hobbywing 1060esc and back to the trusty old Hpi firebolt and Stock 17tooth pinion and 70tooth Spur . It’s Slow but reliable . If anyone in UK do they remember Harward Hall ? Rainham Essex Tuesday eves? 1994/5

Could be wrong but the oil in the shocks are not petroleum based because of that specific reason of temperature. So the shock oil is silicone based which is not effected by the weather. The other hand the mechanics of the shocks are effected so maybe that seams like you need a lighter oil. Great video thx!!!
@RCGirl
@RCGirl 6 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the reply. Your comment made me do a quick web search and it looks like silicone oils are still affected by temp (but perhaps less so than petroleum oils??). Looks like someone did a school experiment (according to an RC tech forum) using different weight silicone shock oils and found that with every 1C of temperature increase the cSt of the oil drops by 9.6. Though that is quite small, it could make a difference over a larger temp decrease. www.rctech.net/forum/electric-off-road/701236-silicone-oil-temperature-tested.html

A little tip for all our RC addicts out there. Dollar Tree sells WD-40 now thank you get like a four or six ounce can for a dollar. I got like two or three every time I go. Always shoot my bearings up on every tire and dipped cups before and after each run. And hit him with the toothbrush and then one more spray on the bearings. Cheap and easy way for great maintenance for your bearings keep them moved and keep them clean. Little better than using Grease stance and doesn't get attracted to it as much as Cheapo WD-40. It works great been using it over a year. Crazy videos I love my saber tooth to. Total Beast
