I have a the older LM2 Diesel engine in my 2021 Sierra 1500 Elevation. I drive about 500 miles a week. 320 miles is my commute and the rest of my millage is from other driving. I get about 520 miles to a tank of diesel and about 25 to 30 miles per gallon. So far I have no issues with this truck. When I first got the truck I got two check engine lights due to programming issues in the exhaust system. Now everything is good to go.

I own this truck and engine. got 3,500 miles on it. no issues so far and I use it as my daily driver. I do use a lot more def then he has. I tow with mine and once you tow you use DEF! I do live in the mountians. Going to town is 10 miles each way. I have used about 5 gallons of def so far. I only get 22 MPG as I said I live in the mountians and do tow! I did a 400 miles (no tow) road trip and got 28 MPG on that trip. I have the short bed and it parks like a car! Especially if you get the cameras.

Have been driving my 2022 Sierra 1500 with the 3.0L as a daily for a little over two years. It is a great daily driver. It has towed our boat across Wyoming between Colorado and Bear Lake the last two years, and is so comfortable and pulls great for a half ton. It does drink the DEF pretty quickly when towing, but that is only a minor inconvenience. We also tow with our Suburban, which is the previous generation with the 5.3L. That engine has been reliable in every vehicle we have owned with it, but the 3.0L diesel is a fantastic match up for the half ton truck/suv application.

Super great overview of the things to consider on one of these diesels. But yes, the 3.0 LZ0 + 10 speed is my absolute favorite power train in any truck I have ever owned. I had a 23 and traded for a 6.2 after watching too many KZbin videos about the def, oil leaks etc. I kick myself daily for the trade. The 3.0 was my favorite motor ever. We have it in my wife's Yukon. I will get into another one as soon as finances make sense to do so.

I’ve got a 24 AT4 with Duramax…only had for 6 weeks so far. Got about 620 miles on the first tank. Drove about 150 miles one way and was getting 27mpg with cruise set at 75. I have tonneau cover and I wasn’t towing. Total about 1200 miles right now and average mileage from purchase is 25.3 so far. Love everything about it except an issue unrelated to the engine. The backup camera on the GMC sucks at night. Not sure why it so bad but a lot of forums are complaining. That’s the only issue I’ve found but I love it

I have a 23 Silverado with 55K miles averaging nearly 27 miles per gallon. The only additional maintenance over a gasser is the DEF about 5 gallons each oil change and a fuel filter change once a year.

We have a 2021 AT4 Sierra and love it. 33k miles now, mostly short trip like 9 miles daily. Loved it so much my wife bought a Yukon in 2023 with the new motor. Both have been trouble free and the fuel mileage is fantastic. I'm not nice on the throttle and still get 23.5mpg in town. Does like 26 on the highway. On the other hand, my wife in the Yukon thinks its an Indy racer and it never sees less than 80 mph on the freeway. Still gets 30 mpg. Crazy stupid for a 6000 lb rig

Yeah that's some great fuel mileage!

Thank you so much for making this video to respond to my question. A local dealer wasn't giving me much details on this and I couldnt find it on KZbin. Those quirks are not too to bad to deal with. I guess in the end I just want my wife to jump in and go like normal. I'd be in the dog house if she had to wait and wait to fire it up just to go grab a Starbucks or go to mall. (I'll take care of the quirk stuff). Yes, it can get very cold in North East OH (low teens - zero). We typically put 20-25k miles (mostly higheay) per year on our vehicle so the amazing mps's this diesel woyld get to use as our daily rriver seems likr a great way to go. Thank you again!!

So does the truck tell you when it's regening?

2024 AT4X AEV here. Just passed 10k and love it. My mpg is a little less but its because its a tank literally! Sometimes i have an occasional hard shift but nothing concerning. My truck even states a little less mpg because of the build but i need it for my job. I still get over 525 a tank for 24 gallons. I use a little more DEF as well but tow a camper occasionally and have had it in some nasty mud a couple of times. I laugh when people bitch about DEF usage. Well you should have bought a gasser then lol. I do recommend the PPE Premium High Efficiency Engine Oil Filter 19-24 GM 3.0L Duramax 1500 LM2 and LZ0. Thats all ill use! They are more but its cheap insurance for a diesel. They come with a magnet in the bottom to catch metal and they filter way better. Theyre about a third longer. Why put a gas filter on a diesel. Look into them. Hope this helps

8200 miles on my 24 Tb w/3 liter. Averaging 26 total and routinely get 35mpg. I’ve found sustained 53mph I’ll get 38mpg, 60mph I get 30mpg, 70 I get 25mpg, 80 I get 20….. so yeah, I drive slow 😂 probably the best engine I’ve had. I have videos and also own the 2019 5.3 and 2022 6.6D

Where do you find Def for $8-10?

I've used this Walmart Super Tech with good success $8.88 2.5/galling jug : www.walmart.com/ip/2461745202?sid=d763ab32-50bf-431a-8290-a817a8530792

You can also get Kleen Def at Menards for less than $10 for a 2.5 gallon jug & it’s usually relatively fresh according to the date codes on the boxes

Walmart super tech for 8.88. Been great just if you get more than one keep it in the Air conditioning and check the manufacture date. Really important that you do that. DEF doesn't like warm or hot temps for self life
