I did one a few weeks ago. First time and it wasn't as bad as everyone makes this out to be putting the stickers on. Water and heat gun is the best for the big stickers. The rest of them can be put on with no issues at all, just a ton of them.

@@RCHobbyShed Your method of decaling is going to be really good for me, I usually snip a small section of the backing paper off then line up the other end and use tape to hold the decal in place then lay it down on the exposed decal and slowly remove the remaining backing etc. More ideas sounds interesting mate!, it's definitely worth the time and effort👌

Great work , it looks really good. Lots of decals but not that many big ones, i think the skyline HKS is worse or what do you say?
@RCHobbyShed3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Oh yeah, there's lots of small stickers. Yeah I actually think the HKS Skyline is worse, that's like 3 sheets of stickers. Fortunately the Skyline body is a little easier to work with as it doesn't have the flared guards to deal with, but I still think the Skyline is more work. They're very close for pain in the butt factor! 😂👍

Your talents are clearly well beyond mine. I made a few mistakes on the decals.. Some small creases. The grill I just left silver as there's no way i could get that right. Finally thoses red decals for the grill... Nope 😂
@RCHobbyShed3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Oh trust me, I make plenty of mistakes. Even the first to stickers on this one, I rushed them and got a crease. This one actually took me a couple of days to put the stickers on, I tend to just walk away before they really piss me off and come back later 😂. I have to admit, those decals on the grill made me want to snap the grill in half! 🤣 I saw your post on Tamiya Legends regarding the heat guns. You can use a hairdryer just fine. I use the heat gun because it heats up much quicker compared to a hairdryer, which is better when you turn it on and off every minute or so. I also find heat guns don't blow so much air as they're not designed to give your golden, flowing locks a nice blow wave 🤣. So because of the reduced air flow, your stickers don't blow around so much when trying to apply them. All you really need to look for in a heat gun it one that has fully adjustable. I use mine almost on the lowest setting, basically enough so it feels hot on your hand but without burning you quickly. They also come in handy for softening Styrene and stuff if you want to make custom body parts things and need to bend plastics. Hope this helps! 👍
@markgreenhalgh83443 жыл бұрын
@@RCHobbyShed oh sweet.. Thanks Mick. I've ordered a basic heat gun that's adjustable... I used a lighter on my xv-01.. How i got aways with it is pure luck. I'm getting more confident with decals now. Get the right tools for the job and all that 😂👌
