Yeah, that was me running in third, first night of gt12 using the club car and running on 50% throttle, won the final once you bumped up to next final. 😂

I'm glad you had fun Mike, these GT-12's are really just top tier Mardaves....what a Mardave could have been if they weren't trying to keep them cheap. I never ran additives on my tyres, as I found that the cars didn't need it. I drove better with just the plain foams.

Having great fun, David. Really happy to be racing again. I have a lot to learn, but it's an enjoyable experience. Yeah, it's come a long way from the aluminium-sheet Mardave.

see if you can get a motor analyser , hw and skyrc make them , turn up the timing until its pulling around 4.0A-5.0A , dont go over the 5a mark or the motor will overheat regardless of gearing . until then turn it up to around 40 degrees , they are at 30 ish out the box , this should give quite a bit more wheel speed and take the edge of the initial torque to help with on power corner exit , kinda like traction control. after a race night , discharge the pack to 3.2v per cell , then storage charge at 1c, top off on the day of the next race , this helps extend the power plateau of the pack for more consistent runs , then have fun .

I did have it turned-up after this and it was better. I think I went to around 46 degrees, if I remember. I don't use it anymore, though, because the Trinity Revtech is miles better!

Hey Mike, glad you enjoyed your first race meeting back after so long away. So the motor timing usually comes set on about 30deg on the motor, it should have markings to show this. I would go up to 35deg if this is the case and just increase each run, I'm not sure how long your races are because that plays a big part, also get a nice 30 or 40mm fan which is usually plugged in via receiver or spare slot on ESC. Also when it comes to it being a bit darty make sure you have some steering Expo/Curve set on your radio as this will deaden the initial steering response down, -25% to -45% is usually a good start depending on the type of car, how fast a servo is being used and just personal preference. This will be most noticeable on the main straight, with some Spektrum radios you have to go the opposite direction so would be +25% to +45% steering Expo/Curve. Hope this helps a little

Hi Luke. It's Mike, actually, but never mind! I certainly am enjoying it, it's been a nice experience, so far. Yeah, you're right; it was set to 30 degrees, standard. I've since increased it and ran it at 40 degrees; temps are a little higher, but it's perfectly acceptable. Races are 5 minutes. Performance is a bit better and can hold its own, in the races that I'm currently being put into. It would be dirt slow against the fastest guys, but that's not an issue right now! As for the handling; noted for your advice, thank you. I think I'm getting there. It was actually understeering, badly, on the second week; as the new carpet is beginning to give more grip. Cheers!

@@TheRCScotsman that's great MIKE 👀🤦🤣, I think only lmp is 7 mins running on it's been a while since I have done Mardave/GT12. Tyres of course play a massive part but as you say with new carpet traction will keep getting higher. There should be quite a few setup's on Schumacher's web site, Schumacher drivers Dan Robins and Andy Murray should have some good ones on there which may help

Really? That's a bit weird. 1s lipos don't have a balance plug. Ah well!
