As a small business, I can appreciate your reviews. I'd rather be alerted to possible flaws in the design so I can improve it, but something like this seems more than a slight oversight. Great video, keep it up. I won't be buying one of these. EDIT: after watching the rest of the video, it IS more than an oversight imo. Thank you for your open and honest reviews. Hey bub, my VTX is really |snowy" if that helps... it was bad before when it was stock and it's still bad with the LEDs and PDB removed. I've also properly insulated the motor screws from the motors. I'd really like to have it ready for when the weather here allows. Thanks for any help!

Is that an FS-A8S receiver? I bought a bunch After a review by UAV futures & nearly lost a quad to the glitchy performance of those units....they lock up at full throttle for 3/4 of a second on any hard punch outs- or agresive throttle movements. very sketchy performance. Any chance you could delve into that issue Mr Bruce (in your spare time LOL) thanks for the channel.

Thudmoto just had this exact same issue. 1 rx was "madmax" mode and 1 wouldn't even bind. Won't be buying anymore of those FS-A8s rx.

SonicStates-there is a long thread on rcgroups about the exact same issue....no real fix found (that i can see) I can't belive these 0r their re-branded models are still for sale....they are kinda dangerous as is. I held off buying the things, then Stu kinda raved about them.....lesson learned.

same with my wizard x220: screws and sides flew off in the maiden flight, cheap chinese goods, mine arrived with a faulty esc too, thank you for giving an actual unbiased review of a product, i was a bit dissapointed with uav futures review, seems like hes a bit of a sell out and not giving a genuine opinion on the quad. Yes, i lost parts too on the original wizard 220. Lost 1 of the aluminium spacer pins with the 2 screws, and 3 screws that hold the motors down as well as 2 other Frame screws. They were all tight but NO loctite!!!

The false horizon was hilarious on the first battery, and fairly accurate on the second. Maybe the OSD is allergic to voltage sags?

We are the QC for banggood. I think that is where the cost savings come from. That being said, they have gotten VERY GOOD about addressing issues. I had a reply for my Lizard95 in 72 hours, and being sent a FC and camera to fix my issue :)

I agree Bruce. I just got a Eachine 250 racer pro, not a drop of loc-tite there either. I didn't check and on the third flight a motor and esc flew straight off in a hover with little warning. the motor windings are damaged so now the model's grounded for weeks and I'm out of pocket all because I was too lazy to check. Eachines are good and cheap but they are not RTF.

isnt the sbus inverter on uart1? or have I missed something? I run my xsr via uart1, smartport on uart 3 and smartaudio on uart6 on my omnibus f4's

latest version of the omnibus(V4) has the inverter on uart 6 SBUS/PPM (J7) header (uart6) This is for inverted signal receivers; has fixed inverter that can not be turned off

Bruce, there is a problem with Betaflight 3.1.7 and S-Bus on a F4 omnibus type of hardware/firmware. If you downgrade your firmware to3.1.6 it should work fine with s-bus. I experience the same problem on my DYS F4 FC after I upgrade to 3.1.7.

I think you did the review of the anom way antennas I put one of the blue ones on my first person view receiver goggles over the rubber ducky and reception is massively better I was even able to get good reception with some blinking and static inside the undisclosed shop that I was flying in and one of my most recent videos

Most chinese manufacturers don't give a crap about making good products. They just care about getting as many items out the door as cheaply as possible because they know for every person that's unhappy there's 10 that buy the stuff anyway because it's dirt cheap. The problem is compounded by the fact that there's always going to be reviewers willing to suck up to said manufacturers in order to keep getting free stuff, while folks do give honest reviews of cheap chinese crap get squeezed out because they won't gloss over problems. So long as there are reviewers who will literally say anything just to continue to get free stuff, this situation will never change. I also doubt any chinese manufacturers will reach out to your offer Bruce unless you were to change it to showing them how they could cut even more corners. Because like I said, making a better product means a more expensive product for them to make, and that's the opposite of what they want.

Exactly. Well said. Their aim is only money - what sells best. Their aim is NOT the best design or best quality or best performing product possible given the particular target budget (e.g. whether it's the luxury, general usage or economical sector). So BEWARE of especially their frame designs - it's not difficult to see examples of where they've actually designed to fail rather than for maximum strength/weight ratio. That has to suck. That has to stop. An example: Carbon sheet is such a great product. Light, rigid and strong. By this time (2017), FAKE carbon sheet (fibreglass dyed black and coated with a skin of carbon weave) based copter frames are pretty much unacceptable. The fibreglass sheet has way too much flex at normal carbon sheet thickness’s, and if you thicken it up to allow for that flexibility, then it's way too heavy to be viable. It's a culture clash really. Western society's (adopted) ideals of general moral codes of conduct are 100% Christian based. China as a nation and society has almost 0% Christian basis and influence. So all bets are off :|. But I'm not criticizing or hating on the Chinese, and I do buy some of their products. Just that if you're aware of the vast general difference of outlook and orientation and acceptable moral codes of behaviour, you'll be much better placed to err "choose wisely".

i need your help guys, my x220s is binded to a frsky x4r-sb through the sbus port, everything is set and fine except in my Telemetry i only get RxBt, A2 and RSSI but no VFAS, how can i get it working?

a lot of the f4 boards dont like turnigy/flysky sbus. also when they do, the radios are usually out a little. I plug straight onto uart3 and go ibus. simpler and for turnigy/flysky, better. looking at a lot of reviews of this craft, I havent seen the issues before - perhaps reviewers curse. I am very confused at the difference between PPM and PCM. I tried looking it up, and a lot of people are saying for some reason that PPM is analog and PCM is digital... I just laugh at that. I know for a fact that PWM, PPM and probably PCM are all forms of digital signal protocols, but there is a lot of misinformation about PPM and PCM. could you explain that a bit?

Don't need to on this board... it has copper between the two pads -- you can just see it if you look closely on the video. I checked for continuity just to be double sure.

With regards to the video quality, pagodas don't do well as a transmit antenna IMO. way too big of a null at the top. they work great for a receive antenna though... that said, I wouldn't count on this one being made to a very high standard either haha

I cannot believe this thing has a FS-A8s RX in it (re-branded by the looks). There's a 47 page long thread on RCgroups on how busted that RX is, and yet they still haven't resolved it or stopped selling it. its not broken..... the Sbus from the FLYSKY radio is NOT inverted. it is the same as the futaba SBUS. taranis Sbus is inverted

I have one of these in hand............ Loose screws > USE A SCREWDRIVER or did pre flight checks suddenly vanish with the ADHD generation ? Flew mine yesterday and not a single screw came loose....................Pre flight checks................. There's no loctite on my Diatone, ZMR or XBEE220 either , 70+ flights in and everything is still tight. The battery probably isnt 75C but its enough for testing , if we want to start moaning about labeling we should start on everybody at the same time ,not all Nanotechs are what their C rating state , in fact a large proportion of batteries are not what their C rating state. The receiver needs changing but that is a fault of Flysky and their shitty QC , lots of complaints starting to appear regarding the A8S and Flysky need to fix the situation instead of bull shitting their customers. Camera is pretty good. VTX was on 25mw which always causes issues in certain areas , stepped mine up to 200mw and its perfectly acceptable. The battery straps are in the wrong position for access to the VTX button however. Frame can be a bit fiddly if you have fat fingers.

No, I'd already set the VTX to 200mW (2 bars). I changed the antenna and it's all good now.

Nice one, glad to hear that the fix is a simple change of antenna . If they'd used an Omnibus F4 they could have forgone the PDB and put an X6B in its place giving better range for the TX or used the space to hold a Runcam Split and just installed the RX in the same rear place , obviously that would end up reflected in the price but it would save too much messing around.
