I agree totally Bruce. I fell for the "greatness" of the Effio-V and bought one. I too did not notice anything close to the 1.8X price increase.

Yes part 2! Great video as always.
@Psi10510 жыл бұрын
yeah, tweak the settings, the effio-V can look miles better than that. It really can look awesome. Might be a good idea to keep an eye on the latency as you play with the settings. I seem to remember an option that made the latency worse/better. Probably adjust the DSP pipeline length for extra processing time or something. If i have time i will post my current effio-V settings here.

You van get the video connector on the top by using the flip option in the menu. That way, the connector is not in the way for tilting the camera.

Hi Maarten, a sweed here and noob :-) on this with cams. Have just order a FatShark 700 tvl and what program do you use to config your cams ?
@bensuhard10 жыл бұрын
Sören von Perner The "sony super had" cameras usually come with a menu switch, it may not be an option with the Fatshark.
@89919510 жыл бұрын
bensuhard ok thats bad :-), is it any workaround ?
@bensuhard10 жыл бұрын
Sören von Perner Guessing the fatshark should be set up pretty well already. You could buy a Sony to compare or as a spare in case of a crash. If you do, get at least a 2.8mm lens for wider view, I like the 2.1mm extra wide lens. The Sony (Super Had 2) is really good for low light viewing, vets recommend setting it to color only, or black & white only, otherwise it'll switch between the two(on auto) when you go from light to dark and vice versa.
@89919510 жыл бұрын
Thanks bensuhard ! Going for it after test the FatShark. Thanks again.

I can confirm the extra latency, but you really only notice the difference when you are trying to do fast and low flying

Great review. The latency kills this camera for me. I wouldn't get 1. mhho
@anthonyrstrawbridge9 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that were attempting to capture in 1) as near as possible an unimpeded real time vision 2) accurate in color rendition but 3) slightly wider field of view image. We are also trying to 4) process and transmit the aforementioned back to a monitor. All of this needs to 5) fit properly in dimension and mass. I'm certainly missing a few things but generally I'm assuming that we do all of this to pilot the aircraft. I also assume that we adhere to what is readily available at a predetermined expectation of cost or funds. And this is where I make a departure from the mission. While video is readily available and is being adapted to piloting I question if video is worthy of pursuit and the mission becomes redefined to me. I wonder if the piloting mission is to 1) Perceive obstacles 2) determine distance and time to obstacles 3) determine dimensions of obstacles 4) determine density of obstacles 5) observe clear zones unimpeded by any of the aforementioned 6) perceive depth and width of all of the aforementioned with perception greater than real time and being equal to the aircraft speed combined with closure rate and reaction time and obstacle movement by a minimum of 1x. When we think about the Bat and his amazing ability to avoid and also hone in on any given obstacle were reminded of radar, sonar, and thermal imaging. I wonder if processing data isn't reduced by only looking at densities, reflections, and heat signals greater than our unimpeded environment and particular aircraft durability. If so, accomplishing a very comprehensive detailed environment surrounding the flight path might be quite beneficial and simpler than processing an accurate ( Eye Image )image in real time. Knowing the density of objects behind other objects really would provide increased opportunities for the flight path and will always be advantageous in respect to moving objects as opposed to the virtual 3d models and gps navigation currently so cherished by the best developers adhering to simple terrain objectives. Me thinks.
@JohnFHendry10 жыл бұрын
See... 1:40.... I knew that would happen. This latency issue is just as bad in some situations for surveillance cameras as well where real time reflex reactions are important. Too bad the new 700 with 2090 chip has issues with OSD's and UFH noise... the question is can the issues be fixed because some are reporting it to be quite an improvement over the 600 with the 2040 chip with no latency. Also I'd like to see a PAL vs NTSC demo as for 1.3 video (vs 5.8) PAL seems like it might be a good way to go over NTSC but I might have it backwards so that's another test to get some facts nailed down. Another excellent video saying it like it is..... no wonder some people get upset;-)

You know a year or two ago I told you the best way to test latency. You blew it off telling me nobody cared about latency. #justsayin. ;) love u bruce. lol! Are you sure you dont have a clone? I've been flying the 600-900tvl line sony's and they all have the same frame tests unless you turn on a lot of options for static scenes like AWB/AGC/HDR/etc, at which point they all lag a frame or three depending.
@Toysrme10 жыл бұрын
^I will say this too, the Effio-S's are better than the V's. I fly a lot of Sony 960H's (700tvl effio-S) and they are fantastic.

After accidentally frying my 600 i got an Effio-V with 2.1 lens and so far its pretty good.. tought i had to dig into settings to boost colors , sharpness and light handling (mine by default did black masks in the sun and bright reflections/lights) BTW.. for some reason mine doesnt seem to have any latency (that i can see in the screen) .. :-/

jesondag That's just with the stock settings, I'll be tweaking them to get best performance.

I guess this is just because the 600tvl has way higher saturation and contrast!
@hughhemington955910 жыл бұрын
The 800TVL cam image looks more "true", but I think the Super HAD gives you more of what you need to fly.
@daggad0210 жыл бұрын
The Effio-V is far superior the 600TVL in image quality. I use it for my level of quad racing as well and I have never knew or noticed the latency either. But that does not mean it could affect better racing pilots like Bruce said in the video. But I also feel Bruce is all about quads these days..put the Effio on an airplane and see how much sharper the image is compared to the 600TVL. And the color saturation needs to be turned up quite a bit to make it really shine.
@donwood770010 жыл бұрын
Bruce, Another great job! How does one power this camera? Thanks, Don
@xjet10 жыл бұрын
Don Wood It runs from 12V so you can power it directly from your 3S lipo, via a UBEC (if you're running more than 3S) or through the voltage regulator that some video transmitters offer.
@Ryuuken2410 жыл бұрын
If you're flying close to the ground on manual, no sonar help, latency does matter, a lot. Rc model constantly crashes his racing quad, probably because latency, 100 - 120 ms.

@GibbonFPV10 жыл бұрын
I knew for sure you would say metalldanny and boris b for the latency. so would you recommend the sony 600tvl for flying in forests? I'm still pretty slow at he moment but I'm speeding up gradually.

Are you going to review 1200TVL Sony 1.3Mega CMOS camera?
@hughhemington955910 жыл бұрын
How do you explain better results from 800TVL over 600TVL when the transmitter was only doing (I assume) 480 TVL? Do you feel the improvement was in the horizontal field? Or was it due to the DSP?
@RichardBuckman10 жыл бұрын
What's the advantage to having 800TVL when this is above the transmission quality? I can see if it's connected to an on-board DVR, but does it make a difference after being transmitted? and when the goggles are likely lower quality anyways? (Unless you just have an LCD screen)

Bruce - Any idea what the impact of DNR is on latency under good lighting conditions? I had my DNR set to 5 when flying on a cloudy day and noticed substantial image ghosting. I'm going to reduce it to 1 or 2 and try again, but am curious whether or not you looked at this setting.
