Absolutely brilliant build video, I couldn't have put mine together without your help! Now just to wait for some good weather so I can go out and fly it. :)

I have the V1 i same colour, had it 2 years now and flown it a lot,(almost every weekend,lol) I fly it on a 4s 2200 with the lipo right up the front behind the motor which seems fine.

i decided on the trainstar ascent..the tundras arch enemy lol..and i still think it was the right call..HOWEVER i do love the fact the tundras comes with applied decals the control horns and rods look beefier it has flaps and the landing wheels are better. On the ascent they are really hard. People complain the ascents landing gear bracket is weak but i am pretty sure its those hard ass tires causing it to bend. the tundra probably is worth 30 more bucks than the trainstar but i like the ascents plastic airframe

Love seeing you try the Tundra. I've been thinking of getting one myself, but somehow never got to it. And now that black and orange colour scheme is out of stock.... hobbyking and stock...

@@jonoedwards4195 Thanks for the heads up. I actually bought an orange/black kit myself about two weeks ago, just when they came back in stock in the EU warehouse 😄

@@jawolllinger I just finished mine now, the prop bolt was the wrong size so i took the cone bolt off My Brewster, fits and looks a lot better, along with other missing bolt sizes, typical Durafly build really. Now trying to work the reverse prop, this will be more joy! Have a good on Friend.

@@jonoedwards4195 I haven't started building it yet, too many projects 😄 but yeah, mine has a tear in the elevator hinge, still have to repair it and am expecting more surprises during the build 😁 Thanks, you have a good one, too!

I recently began flying this exact Tundra V2 model...my problem is the motor sometimes quits after appox. 4 min of flight time...I am using new 3S 2200mah 60C LiPo's and they are still fine after landing ( appox. 38% left ) .......I notice the ESC becomes very hot and it must be shutting down the motor ...I am using all the stock parts that came with it......the big carbon fiber prop , stock motor and stock 40amp ESC from Hobbyking ..what am I doing wrong as it's frustrating having to land dead stick so many times ?...thanks

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Nice review!!!! What rx did you use? Do you think a rx with stabilizer is needed, i am intermediate rc pilot, this is my first big plane. Any advice. Thanks Alex

I'm using a FrSky D8R-XP, it's an old receiver but works well enough. It uses an older protocol not supported by the current FrSky transmitters, but most of the multi protocol radios work fine. If you're comfortable flying models with fairly minimal self stabilisation you'll manage just fine, the model has a straight wing so if you let go of the sticks it'll tend to keep it's angle rather than level out. I'm not a huge fan of electronic stabilisers on fixed wing unless your doing camera work where you might get disorientated, it adds complexity and it's more to go wrong

@@RCMojoTV Thanks for sharing your experience...i feel confortable without stabiliser just worry to destroy my plane. Plus i want to have my son (9y) fly my plane and i was thinking stabilisation may be a good help. Thanks again.!!

thanks for these helpful build tips.... I was thinking of getting the Tundra as my 2nd plane ...I have currently been learning to fly using a high wing 40 size nitro trainer...any advice...thanks
@RCMojoTV3 жыл бұрын
It would make a good second plane. It'll be slower than your 40 trainer but far more agile, especially at lower speed

I really want to have a RC airplane, but I am just too afraid of crashing it, because I never flew a rc plane ^^
@jawolllinger4 жыл бұрын
I used to be afraid of that too :) it got easier for me when I realized that with the foamies you can repair a whole lot before having to replace most parts (apart from bent motor shafts and stripped servo gears). Really if you like being invested in tinkering with your plane a foamie like the tundra here could be a nice beginner plane (just using flaps might be something you'll need to learn how they work before a newbie uses them :) ).

A simulator helps a lot, even a basic one. The first one I tried was wireframe on an Atari ST but it made the difference. Next was a 3 channel lightweight rudder/elevator model, then the big step to a 40 size trainer. The first time I flew the trainer I did 2 circuits then had to land to have a sit down to recover, great fun!
@musk-eteer98984 жыл бұрын
to save money, i started out practicing with a simulator RF9.5 it has a lot of Eflite trainer planes with Safe Select technology to prevent crashing. my first plane is the Eflite Aeroscout 1.1M, it is cheap ez to fly and land, it is also very ez to repair if you crash.

I love this plane and Im considering buying it, but the worst thing to me is how inconvenient it is for transportation… Too fiddly with the screws and the support bars for installing and uninstalling wings between sessions…
@RCMojoTV3 жыл бұрын
It's not the best if you have a smaller car. Even so with the connectors in the wing roots it's not too much of a hassle as long as you've got a few packs to fly through
