My first crawler ever and my second hobby grade RC car ever (first was a Slash) was a TRX-4 chassis kit. It took me a week of afternoons after work to put it together. But is amazing.
@cl-audio3225 жыл бұрын
Might as well get a kit considering I end up tearing my RTRs down anyway to check diffs, upgrade bearings, hop ups, etc.
@RCReviewChannel5 жыл бұрын
Most RTRs are not that well put together and require a rebuild to get optimal performance. Torqued bolts, shock oil, grease are key issues to check.
@graymatter455 жыл бұрын
I prefer kits. I enjoy the build. I’ve built many kits and I’m glad companies are offering kits again. I bought that land cruiser pickup body from killer body and put it on an SCXll. I had to use cantaleaver shocks in rear to keep full depth bed. Works well but more scale than performance

Thank you. RTR is a good gateway drug to get more people hooked. Then they can grow into kits.
@melmyrtle57655 жыл бұрын
@@RCReviewChannel for me the gateway was my father telling me I could have his old beat Tamiya grasshopper . Catch was I had to fix it up like new or no deal. I was 5yo worked all summer to save enough to get the parts to do it . The addiction we call RC started for me that summer.

Thank you for another great review. I really wish Traxxas would do a chassis kit with no electronics, radio, or body. Kind of like Redcat did with theirs, that would make the ultimate builder imo.
@RCReviewChannel5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Traxxas is great but they need to deliver what we want, not what's convenient for them. Throwing in a pickup bed rack does not really help.

Since 1984, the ONLY RTR I've ever bought, was a Traxxas T-MAXX - and only because no Kit was available. I've always loved the satisfaction and experience of building my own! You've compiled a good list of Kits available. The only thing we seem to differ on, is you are far more Hardcore Performance driven, and I'm more about Scale. Neither is right or wrong. I HOPE that I'm able to get the Element Sandero Builder's Kit. So much potential with it!! Having built and run the Axial SCX10 II SBK, the only thing worth noting is... The supplied Shocks are CRAP! Stick like nothing else, and LEAK! 😞😖 I believe many of us would pay the extra $20, to get the superior ICON Shocks instead. The rest of the Kit, highly recommended! 👍👍 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
@RCReviewChannel5 жыл бұрын
great observations!!!!!!! The Sendero stock shocks seem to be the best around. Rarely leak and smooth, stiction free performance box stock

I love building my own vehicles, that is one of the reasons it took me so long to get away from Tamiya, all their stuff was kits. I wish everything came in kit form or we had the option to get a kit from all the manufacturers and all the vehicles. After the RTR took over the market if I bought one I would tear it apart and build it back up to become familiar with the vehicle and to add things that I wanted or felt it needed.

I agree, when I got into hobby grade rc vehicles back in the late 70s you only had kits and I feel that is the way all RC vehicles should be, when something breaks you can fix it yourself. And you get a lot more satisfaction from it in my opinion.
@davidburke56865 жыл бұрын
Gregg Mundkowsky not everyone has the technical know how or the physical ability to build a kit, there are more rtrs than kits because the manufacturers make more money from them.

With kits you can learn so much more than with a rate. A kit let's you learn how everything is put together so if it needs fixing you will only need to tear down a small part of the car. With rtr when it needs repairs you go in blind.

I haven’t built any of these yet, but I did build the original TRX4 Kit with the pins that were too large. I fixed that by purchasing a hitch pin from my local hardware store and cutting the flat part to fit. I’ve had it for four months now and no problems with the makeshift pin. As for buying any of these, I’m thinking of buying the TRX4 Sport Kit next and running the Hobbywing Quicrun 1080 ESC, but I’m stuck on a servo for it. If anyone has any suggestions for a good servo that isn’t expensive (under $85) that doesn’t need a BEC it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 👍
