Just got one for my birthday today! What an absolute beast... I think the stock tires are okay, NOT GREAT but serviceable. I probably won't change the tires until the stock wear out, then..... badlands.... My stock servo is okay too, can turn the tires on carpet no problem, but I will likely buy the steel geared servo and have it on hand for when mine eventually strips.

In addition to your situation, I have noticed if the ESC is used heavily, it can and will thermal shutdown. a solution to that would be to aim two small fans at the ESC to the left and right of it, that cures that problem. Also the Spur and Pinion are inadequate, the pot metal has exploded on me twice under the high speed gear combo. Replace with hardened steel and you will end up with a much more durable drive train. Also have replaced both front and rear diff cases with the aluminum case from the torque biasing center diff. I haven't broken anything in the suspension, but i find the drive train of this truck to be very fragile.

The parts needed for the SRR are 109 c hubs and upper suspension arms. 60-88 spindles. A must. Gpm aluminum servo saver bell crank and aluminum servo saver mount 50, 1/5 servo mount 55, 1/5 scale servo 50-100. Upper link mount 40 and the rear bearing carrier 50+. Then you break the axle housing or lower control arms or front shock tower. All those are limited to one maker running 88 for the cheapest part. So so glade I traded it for an x maxx before I got in the hole.

SAD HOW U SAY ITS AN."EXPENSIVE" RC TRUCK only to end up replacing or upgrading every part that matters. Down to the esc. Im a new owner of an 8s xmaxx and not even 5hr total run time and my esc went bad. Into my 3rd set of diff gears both front and back. Spent more for the spiral cut gears that didnt last long. Cant wait for Arrma to get with the large scale band wagon.
@Rcstreetshop5 жыл бұрын
Yes, with 5 scale cars everything is very different in terms of how loads, torques etc are applied. Power to weight ratio is different form regular 1/10 scale
@Procrastn8rsUnite2morrow5 жыл бұрын
@@Rcstreetshop im finding that out. Also what I just figured out is that its not the components that are bad but rather a design flaw. The engineers got this one wrong and why they havent fixed it is beyond me.
@Procrastn8rsUnite2morrow5 жыл бұрын
How so you ask? Well, they tuck the heat sensitive esc in a trench surrounded by all this heat source. Behind it is the motor, in front are the metal gears and on both sides are the 4s batteries. All generating enough heat to hurt the esc and eventually causw a short circuit. Untop of that is a body that traps all that heat in. A simple remedy is to lift the esc up a few inches and get cool air circulating around it. Once I did that and my esc works like a dream. No more error codes and play all day long. 🤙🤙

Do you know if they make a tougher alternative for the 7720 part on an 8S? Mine broke and it was a pain in the butt to replace. It seems like that should be a stiffer aluminum piece. And, it’s pretty important for the truck.
@Rcstreetshop4 жыл бұрын
It should be flexing, this is why it was made it out of plastic, aluminum would cause something else to break plus truck will be much heavier (more inertia etc)

Also, I wen't to the RPM site and it says that the bearings are not a replacement for stock Traxxas Axle Carriers. So, does that mean that we need to change that carrier to fit the new bearings? Sorry, I am a newbie and just getting in to the hobby.

It depends on how you run it. For most people stock is OK (with extra cooler/ heatsink )...It is possible to damage any ESC with high output batteries. There is no need to get high end charger if your goal is to charge two high performance batteries at a time. Instead of spending $400-500 on a charger, get 2 $100 ones...it be just as good.

Great video, thanks! Would you have such a video for E-revo 2.0? By the way, nice place you use your x-maxx!

Thank you for the comment. We are a little bit shorthanded at the moment, but we'll try to make the same video for Revo 2.0
@borgfpv84185 жыл бұрын
It would be cool, 2.0 is a car that, with the right upgrades, is pretty cool. The worst for me is the rear suspension. I tried everything until I remembered a carbon fiber surfboard kit ... I even made a video about it, look: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naO0XnqQjbuIrcU

Quick question...has the bearing issue on the inner hubs been resolved on the factory 8s Maxxes? I just got the same one as in your video and inner bearings look pretty beefy. They arent RPM though.
@Rcstreetshop6 жыл бұрын
Sure, they changed quite a few things on 8S, but we still recommend RPM. Parts are beefy and flex instead of breaking.

Awesome video bro! Just plain honest content. What exact size reamer or drill bit is used to make the arm holes bigger to fit the CEN hinge pins?
@Rcstreetshop5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I believe it was 3mm drill bit...I'll check with our tech and edit the comment if its not.
@Eric_DJ5 жыл бұрын
I used a 4mm drill bit and it worked just fine although 3 would be safer

Well i dide know about the cen hinspins mod together whit the rpm arms whas a must, but from what i know you can only do it to the outther and lower arms, that sayid you need it all the way around from what i have seen/heard or is that wrong? Becuse i hade the arms on my truck and the pin slipt out on thelower arms first, but also on the uper arms on the outside :(

Absolutely replace the radio, esc, and whatever you do don't install the telemetry system. I did and there updates bricked two freaking radios. The best hop ups I did was the same Hot racing steering set up and Hot racing differential parts including the HR support plates under the diffs and helical cut diff gears. Never blown a diff since. I also did the badlands tires make a huge difference as well. Unfortunately because of the radio issues I've had , I have no electronics for it for about a year now. My girlfriend has an Arrma Nero and I wish I bought that instead of the Xmaxx. My 20 year old Team Associated MGT still runs better than my Xmaxx. I've been doing RC for 30 years so I'm not exactly new to this lol

Charles B hi I have the same x max the snap on edition one and I would like to be able to use the self righting do you know what I need. Apparently I need a new radio with the switched and red button and also I need the new receiver so if you have any ideas what I need that would be great

Hi. Can you tell me why every dealer in Europe (and I guess the US is the same) all charge the same price for a Traxxas X-Maxx 4WD 8S. I have asked many dealers for a discount when buying a complete package including batteries and dual charger and they all say they are not allowed to discount 🤔🤔
@a10v5 жыл бұрын
Do you recommend going to 22/50 on the pinion and spur? I have stock 6s i do have to extra fans for the esc and the dual castle fans for motor
@Rcstreetshop5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the way you ride/play. Make sure you check temp after first couple of minutes and then after 10mins, to make sure that you are not over heating/stressing it.

@@Rcstreetshop I've done it a couple of times already. Hehe. I've broken the top bulkheads in the rear and front so I had to take my xmaxx apart. No biggie 👍
