I'll never forget the summer of 1999, when my childhood attention span bounced back and forth between this game and The Phantom Menace. We'd have sleepovers at each others' houses and build parks together. Once we'd have our rides and fees all set up, we'd AFK and head to the nearest playground and pretend we were podracer pilots or lightsaber duelists. Then we'd return to the house and check our park's progress, putting our accumulated profits to use building better murder pits and exile islands for poor and unhappy guests. Fun times. I'm looking forward to watching this whole series. You're delightful.

I just wanted to let you know it’s been a rough week and being able to just chill to RCT in these videos is just much appreciated!

Yeah, on the original scenarios you had both pay for park and pay for ride options which was really difficult to figure out at first. A general rule to go by is that the more they're willing to pay to enter the park the less willing they are to pay for rides so keep that in mind going forward. If you pay $10 to enter a park with a merry-go-round, a twist, and a wooden coaster you won't pay $10 to then ride the wooden coaster even with great-to-excellent stats. I personally use a rule Marcel brought up for the park entrance fee: 3 flat rides equal $10, 1 coaster equals $10. Coasters ride fee is generally Excitement rounded to the nearest round number (4.45 Excitement means I charge $4 for the ride, 6.85 Excitement means I charge $7 for the ride, etc) for these types of scenarios that do both which does mean micromanaging them since they lose popularity rather quickly in RCT 1 scenarios so keep that in mind for the later ones when you get to hear 2 or 3 in some of those scenarios. You'll need to check on them much more often instead of just every once in a while.

Thank you! I was wondering if there was a rule of thumb I should follow in future scenarios where you pay at the gate and for individual rides. This will help a lot!
@donanelli6793 Жыл бұрын
Of course, like I said these will require more micromanagement than RCT 2 (one of many improvements in the game going forward) so that should be a guide for you to test out to your own whims.
@CrappyCornFlake Жыл бұрын
Hey! I'm enjoying your RCT vids. The RCT1 scenarios give you a choice between charging for entry or ride tickets. Personally, depending on the park, I'd choose one or the other. Charging both entry and ride tickets simultaneously requires a lot of price micro management.

There's many changes to the normal game, automatic tree removals and extra predesigned rollercoasters for example I also feel like you could fit a lot more logs than should be possible with such a short station
@azungu1190 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think RCT2, or at least OpenRCT2, gives a number of log boats determined by the total length of the track instead of the length of the station. Since I’m playing the RCT1 scenarios through OpenRCT2, it’s making it easy for me 😅

i always put research and developmen maximum for shops and stalls and get the info kiosk first, then roller coasters for steel rollercoaster, then thrill, gentle. in that order. but always check to see if i have any of those things
@azungu1190 Жыл бұрын
Good strategy
@theQial Жыл бұрын
Same here. Gotta get the stalls and then steel coasters. You can win pretty much any park if you do enough simple shuttle coasters like the original launch coaster Montezuma's revenge at Knotts Berry Farm. 😂

I usually only have them pay for rides. Easiest to make the most money. I had the original, like before the expansions came out. You had to delete scenery when building. You didn't have near as many options in rides, like the different path colors for queues, the walls and scenery and using shift to raise height didn't work because the others weren't there. Your log flume would only allow you enough boats that would fit in the platform. They queue paths didn't connect as you went if it touched a regular path. You got spoiled lol. I was blown away when I got deluxe with some of the extra options, then rct2 made it closer to open rct2 but still short. Good job on exploring the roots
@aharontyson6958 Жыл бұрын
I don't think you could change the colors of flowers, I rarely used scenery when I was 10 lol, i just wanted to build coasters

Im a year late, but one misconception i wanted to clear out: if you overcharge the park entry, people will spawn slower but those who spawn will always pay the entry fee as long as they have enough money. Marketing completely ignores entry prices as they spawn people at a set rate each.
@DisneyBatchman Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'll glad do pay per ride or pay per park, but I have no interest in struggling to do pay for both.

If you're using OpenRCT2, then you are not by any means getting the vanilla RCT1 experience. It's more like the RCT2 experience with the RCT1 scenarios.
@azungu1190 Жыл бұрын
True. I launched RCT1 and played around with it, and it’s much harder because of little headaches like queue lines linking to the wrong paths. I’ve been thinking of releasing a pure vanilla video playing it, but the game isn’t capable of a 16:9 aspect ratio without getting stretched out.

In this OpenRCT2 playthrough... wow then you don't play RCT1, you just play the scenarios. I thought I will see a RTC2 Veteran experiencing the first game for the firsttime. and with it the lack of Quality of Life stuff -,-
@azungu11904 ай бұрын
First I have to figure out how to get it to 16:9 aspect ratio. I know it’s possible since I’ve seen other KZbinrs pull it off, I’m still investigating it.
@Bowsar1337 Жыл бұрын
that's not rollercoaster tycoon 1, the openrct2 scenarios are not exact recreations and there are major differences
@azungu1190 Жыл бұрын
Good point, I've been thinking of releasing videos from the original game. Problem is, none of the fullscreen resolutions in the old game are 16:9 aspect ratio.
@Innadiated8 ай бұрын
So.. you still haven't actually played RCT1, the OpenRCT2 implementation is not the same. Thats more like RCT1 with RCT2 capabilities (same with the RCT classic release). Try actual RCT Deluxe, you'll see what I mean.

I played and beat forest frontiers on RCT Deluxe… which isn’t saying much because Forest Frontiers is super easy 😆
@Innadiated8 ай бұрын
@azungu1190 well yes its the first scenario. But some of the later ones can be quite a bit more challenging without the advanced tools and additional scenary pueces. I was just expecting due to the title that this was actually rct1 not rct1 maps in rct2. :)
@azungu11908 ай бұрын
@@Innadiated I have plans to eventually go through the vanilla game, though I might go hunting for some kind of script or mod to get it to a 16:9 aspect ratio, otherwise there will be black bars on the sides.
