What a neat truck. There's a lot of scale detail here that might be overlooked in casual examination. The scale realism is pretty impressive for all the things they got right. I'm admiring the rear suspension and axles on this machine. That's a really well done scale inverted leaf spring walking beam suspension, and it even has the lower dogbones and upper wishbones just like the full scale trucks that use the same kind of suspension. I can't help but marvel at how closely it models the tandems on my own truck. Well, mine has single upper dogbones instead of wishbones, but it's otherwise very very similar. This truck is impressively detailed and functional. Really makes me want to add one to my collection. P.S. all that rear suspension articulation is a direct result of that walking beam suspension. On my fullsize truck, the rear dual tires hit the bottom of the cargo bed before they run out of articulation. It's even worse for the guys with super singles (especially the guys who have swapped on HEMTT tires). This thing captures that effect really well, I think.

That's a question I haven't fully answered yet. I've got a hydraulic tipper trailer here I've been building up. It's nearly done but I have yet to sus the electronic part. It needs 3 channels and I have 1 spare on my current setup. I was looking at the flysky noble as it allows multiple rx units to work concurrently. The trailer could get the secondary receiver and I could put the primary in my truck. Could do that in both my bigger rigs, indeed. Not cheap, but that'd do it. Still thinking about it, basically!

I recently bought the same from Eagel Machinery And it's really heavy duty and nicely made. Tough we suspect it's more or less 1/13 insteat of 1/14. A friend of mine has a 1/14 Unimog where we need to compare it with. I actually bought the same trailer as well, and there I have the same scale problem, but I am already thinking of modifying one of them to make it fit better. Further I do agree, it'is a very nice machine and very very capable. It had so much more traction than the other truck in the sandpit in the early stages when the sand was still loose. In my opinion a very nice starter truck and a very good truck to take appart and rebuild en improve to ones liking!

Did you consider using the HG P806 trailer with this truck? This Zetros looks great but I suppose it really needs some weight over the rear axles to perform at its best. I've been tempted to get a RC heavy truck for a while now but never quite found exactly what I wanted. There seems to be a number of options such as JD Model/RC4WD, HG, Tamiya, Hercules Hobby, Cross-RC, CAPO, King Kong, etc. But when you are investing so much money you want something that's better than just okay. The Tamiya and Hercules trucks are mainly for on-road use and the CAPO is too expensive. The HengGuan and King Kong trucks seem okay for the price but there is not much choice. That leaves JD Model/RC4WD and Cross-RC. Decisions, decisions...Any other options you can think of?

Good trailer suggestion! My T247 finally arrived on the weekend so once it's painted and together I'll pop it on the back of this and we'll see how it looks. The Hg trailer is a good idea, and there's a range of lesu and similar cnc options on AliExpress too. Re trucks, you've covered the main stuff. When I look at trucks they need to be able to take off-road tires and I want all wheel drive, or the ability to mod it in. I live on a dirt road with gravel driveway. Nearest pavement to me is about a kilometre away, so it's all off-road stuff here! I have been looking at the 6x6 and 8x8 Herc options, and similar. The king Kong 6x6 represents excellent value and is the right scale for the many Tamiya and Herc trailers, too, so there's that. LESU isn't cheap but they make premium versions of what Tamiya and Hercules have, so I keep an eye on them too. The HG 8x8 models also represent excellent value. It'll be one of those or the King Kong 6x6 next, here (though I'm unsure about the KK diff strength currently. Working through setup on the CA10 to try to find a configuration where it doesn't blow with heavy weight. Shimming it just so is hopefully the way through, we'll see).

@@RCTNT Thanks for your reply. I'm sure it will be great fun building the T247 trailer and it looks like a very good quality and robust bit of kit. I'm the same here, located part way up a mountain and only rough tracks nearby. I'm waiting to see what the new Cross-RC DC8 and BC8 trucks look like. Whether I buy one will depend upon what cab/bodies they are going to fit and how scale realistic they are. By the way, I also bought my AT4V from Highway Toy Store on AliExpress and would definitely buy from them again.

So I'm thinking of getting my first scale truck. I'm stuck between a Tamiya King Hauler and one of these. Which one would you suggest i get?
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, that's actually not such a difficult question: for scale on-road driving, it's Tamiya all the way. For tougher drive-train and off-road capability (and look for my playlist for this thing, I'm running brushless power through it now without any issue), you can't really go past this thing. Off-road hauling with serious load capacity isn't catered to by many models. There's this, the HG 8x8s, the Cross RC BC8, a few of the Lesu 6x6 and 8x8 models... maybe one or two others that I can't think of right now, but that's it for off-road. For on-road only though, Tamiya and Hercules Hobby do it really well and for a great price (plus you get to build a kit, which this model here doesn't offer you). Hopefully that helps! You'll love them either way!
@Rockatha

@@RCTNT thanks for your reply. I really like the idea of building a truck but I also like the idea of hauling off road. Are you able to make the tamiya King Hauler off road capable.
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 жыл бұрын
@@Rockatha haven't had one before, but the biggest issue is its a 6x4. With un-driven front wheels, you're always going to struggle on anything even pebble sized. I've got the King Kong CA-10 2x4, for example. It was useless even on grass. I put the chunkier tires on it from the CA-30 and that helped. Then I converted it to 4x4 and it went better again, of course. But I didn't like the axles I'd used, so I went back to the original 2x4 configuration and instead tried half a brick over the hitch plate in the front of a box trailer. That helped a fair bit. It is challenging just on mild off road trails, but it can now do that. The other thing than traction to be aware of is diff and transmission gear strength. I daresay the Tamiya simply won't take the extra forces that off road driving typically exerts on the drive train. You do need to make a choice here. On road only, Tamiya will be fine. If you want the Tamiya offroad, you'd want to start looking online to see what others have done. That's what I'd be doing anyway. My intuition is that it'll be an uphill battle, but I'd love to be wrong!

The tamiya trailers can look a little small on this but the longer ones look good. The height in the default position is close, only like 10 or 15% higher than you'd ideally want the hitch to be. Certainly, it's easy enough to make it higher - I have a recent video on that. It's a shade too big, in short. But still ok, just not perfect. It sure hauls, though!

Probably the most inconsistent rig on your channel so far. Such a pity it's so over the place. Some details are amazing, such as the scale chassis details, like the front sway/anti-roll bar, the nice axle articulation and locking differentials... but then, the poor build quality, the solid tires, amber headlights (huh?) but foglight yellow rear turn signals lens (huh, huh??), and the cheap phillips head screws... Either they really want you to "finish" the details, or they ran out of budget halfway through the production phase, with most of the molds finished, or else, it was simply a rushed deadline, which left the development unfinished. Probably all of the above? Maybe if it'd ever get a V2 with the issues corrected and, as you said, a kit version, it could even sway me into trailers for the very first time. You heard it here first. Because it sits so high the headlights being mounted in the actual "headlight spot" would be right in the eyes of oncoming drivers, hence they're mounted in the bumper and the flashers are in the headlight wells.
