The FMS FCX10 Chevrolet K5 Blazer (1979?) is the latest 1/10 scale RC crawler from FMS. Featuring more servos than you can poke a stick at, the car also comes with an interesting new radio from FlySky that we recently tested with the Yikong YK4106 Pro. There's a light kit as part of it, a bunch of different features and even some available channels for you to play with.
Join me for a look at this one, it should be interesting!

Haha thank you, but that's observation backed by experience rather than any homework showing, unfortunately! I've had to phone it in the last few videos since my 'Goodbye' video - it was that, or no videos. I'll be back to usual in hopefully a few more months, the very hardest period is behind me now. Thank you for your kind words, I'm so grateful for you guys!

Great as always. A couple things you might wanna note on your next video is that the light switch on the remote actually does have 3 positions, they're just not utilized out of the box. Off, daylight running lights (DLR), and head lights with DLR. I have mine setup where the headlights are plugged into the DLR slot and switched the "reverse/brake" lights to the headlights slot. That way i can just have the headlights or or tht headlights and taillights on. It sacrifices brake lights. I'm trying to decide if i wanna switch out the rear blinkers for reverse lights (I'm a little hesitant since the blinkers are also used as "status" lights). Also the front dif lock cable rubs on the frame when the suspense is flexed and will wear threw in a couple of hours if not addressed. I hope get they get your dog taken care of, i almost lost mine last year due to a rare condition. He's better now and you'd never know he was even sick.
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 ай бұрын
Thanks, I did address it but without that level of detail. It's great to have options with this light system, the whole radio system indeed is very good. The one thing I don't know about is the DLR mode you mentioned. I'll look into that, thank you. The front locker cable will be fine, I reckon. I'll check it again but surely it'll take scores of hours to wear down... Though, you've got me thinking now! Maybe it's worth taking a closer look. Hey, thanks for all the detail. It's appreciated. Glad your dog is better. Mine is too. It's hard when they're off, isn't it.
@Duke_Nuke
@Duke_Nuke 2 ай бұрын
@@RCTNT I meant DRL lol. It's the 4th plug down and isn't used out of the box. I saw another KZbinr recommending plugging the taillights into it, but I noticed when I turn the light switch half way only the DRL plug was active. I run mine at night occasionally and like having the ability to only turn the headlights on. I thought the locker cable would be fine since it only rubs when flexing, but the part of the frame it rubs against is sharp and already rubbed through the outer plastic layer on mine. There's also a metal layer so I doubt it would break the cable. I just zip tied it to the front axle for now.

Ah I get you now. Thanks for the quality advice, I'll look into both these things 🙏👍

We call that a cap on the back and inner fenders instead of wheel arches here in Canada. I really like Fms but I'm not a fan of this model. Hope all is well and have a great week.

In Australia we call it a canopy and possibly wheel wells, though I dunno about that second one! Anyway, most of my audience is USA-based and they all know I'm not down with the lingo. And I'm okay with that :) Cheers!

The body is nicer on this, and I think it'll be a more capable crawler. But the features and finish are very similar, and it's the same great radio system, so I'd say buy on body preference.

I'm happy to hear Pups is doing alright! Well, I applaud FMS for developing and producing this rig. It's a solid entry into the trail rig category. Mechanically, it's intriguing with lots of features and I look forward to seeing how it manages your problems. I wonder if they will include shields for the actuators in the future. I feel like that should come covered from the factory and not be an add-on one needs to purchase. I must say the dimensions of the body just look weird. It's not accurate enough for me which is a shame as FMS makes some gorgeous hard bodies. Great review sir and I look forward to seeing it on the problems. Take Care!
@RCTNT

Agreed on all points, and thank you. I've got injora diff bash plates coming for it, it's a shame they're needed. And yes, the body is a bit odd. It's good, but not quite right in a way that makes it look like a toy. Still can't quite put my finger on it!

I like this FMS but the quality and consistency of assembly seems to be hit or miss. You and SBG Matt had issues, but Crawler Canyon didn't pulling his out of the box and neither did Tomley that I recall. The 2 in 1 question came up in Crawler Canyon's video and I think he maybe saw there is an open channel 2 on the receiver. Mayyybe owners can plug into that but it was unclear. As you know the documentation is decent, not great. Really happy to hear your puppy is doing better!
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 ай бұрын
Hey Andy, I've checked for channel 2 and it simply doesn't have one. I've read the whole manual looking for this exact thing, and also closely examined the receiver/ESC. I don't think it's possible. Haven't watched any reviews yet, and I won't until I've done my drive and rock test video. The slipper is a 5 minute fix, thankfully. No other issues noted. And if I'd had more than the 35 minutes I managed to grab that evening, I'd have fixed it on the spot and continued my review! But this has been a challenging period. I'm looking forward to getting it out again soon. I'm quite optimistic about its driving characteristics after the short time I got with it already!

I was thinking that same thing fixable but they need to tighten up Quality Control. So far mine has had no issues but I’ve only had it out 4/5 times but I did push it on some rocky steep terrain which was almost comp crawler territory but the first thing I noticed is it didn’t tip over very easy & it seem to find traction & tried to go up everything. They make covers for axles already & I have the Injora metal driveshafts & they are super smooth I’ve notice the bottom of mine already had major scratches on the bottom of the chassis because of black color they should’ve left it just metal but no big deal. I just added Injora metal beadlocks that look like the stock rims & testing the Injora Pinner tires on it right now but will change them to some Proline tires that are more scale looking but still have great performance. I also followed someone’s suggestion to cut the center tab off the rear body mount & snip the other two at the second notch so the magnet pretty much holds it. The front is no problem simple & once you do the mods to the rear it becomes a lot easier to take off. Can’t wait to see the Rock course test I’m going to say now that I’ve ran mine it’s going to make all of the rock courses I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t but I do know that the approach & departure angles are not good & the bumpers get hung up that may prevent it from climbing something. I was hoping you would get it & review it. 👍

@RCTNT 2 ай бұрын
That sounds pretty well sorted Thanks for the tip on the body, it is very tight. I think I'll leave it like it is, as maybe it'll loosen over time and I'll be glad they're still there. Either way, this is a great rig! I have the same injora shafts and diff bash plates coming, too. Great rig isn't it! I expect it'll get at least 3 of the problems done. More than that? Hard to say. Looking forward to finding out!

Hey, nice to see you again. 😊 I burned my FJ40 slippers too in my last run. Three months to kill it, with a lot of packs...Love that rig, it introduces me to the"scale world". I really like fms products, clearly one of the bestest "new fresh rc brand". But yeah, I have some little issues on mostly all of the ones I have. Some parts are a little bit fragile. And maybe I abuses sometimes... my punk side 😅 But hey, that's the case when you use it a lot, which means you run them a lot, cause those little things are sooo fun to drive. Wish you the best bro, to your dog too ✌️

FYI. “CVD” in the RC world is not actually constant velocity. If you look at the design you can see it’s a universal joint. Love the videos. Keep them coming!
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 ай бұрын
You're technically correct (the best kind of correct!) but I'm referring to these rounded joints as CVDs to differentiate between them and the uni joints that very clearly have that slow-fast-slow velocity to them. The hobby 'CVDs' here are still way smoother than the mated C-brackets that are stronger, but really suffer quite obviously as the degree of turn increases! You are technically right though. Cheers for the FYI!
@-1-2-1-

Oddly enough the only real constant velocity setup in crawlers are the high articulation double jointed (thereby cancelled) axles used in comp rigs.

Great to see a new vid up, especially with so many things going on, It´s been a quite controversial rig, especially after SBG's review of it. Not saying it isn't a fair assessment either, btw. I do like some things and others I can't be bothered. Personally I'll take the FJ40 with a set of scale wheels/tires, the leaf springs conversion, a driver, and a few accessories... and a Fusion SE 1200 on 3S, please!
