Our trip to Robbinsville, NC

That is the Fontana Lake and dam. Back in the 30’s-40’s the Army Corp of Engineers flooded the town of Fontana in order to supply power to the valley. Remnants of the town can still be seen below the water’s surface…such as a sawmill, store, houses, etc.

That is actually Cheoah Dam. Right at the end of Dragons tail. Made famous in the Harrison Ford movie The Fugitive. Believe it or not we used race up on the Dragons tail back in high school. Race to Maryville and back. Good times.

I lived in Robbinsville most of my life, moved 5 years ago I don't why you would want to vacation in Robbinsville but now I understand I'm moving back home in a few months 😊

Fontana Dam is right up the road and is about 4 times bigger! The release from Fontana flows to the Cheoah dam. The release from Cheoah flows down the little Tennessee River to the Calderwood dam, the dam you saw off the dragon. The release from that dam then flows to the Chilhowee dam. Damn.

That dam is cheoah dam it was used in the movie The Fugitive with Harrison Ford and a Movie called In Dreams

Wife just returned from Robbinsville NC,terrible as you have to drive at least 1 Hour to get anywhere,lots of "Moonshiners"YES It is filmed there,people trying to steal during the night at her sisters 8 acre home 3 nights,stole security cameras Called the Police,never came out,people look dirtylots of Mobile Homes .Taking a risk staying in the outskirts of Town.Great place to run a Crackhouse,Rated F Schools,Crime,Burglary,etc.What a shame as yes its beautiful but no cell reception and its an hour each way to anything.Motorcycles all over and at least one death per week.Law Enforcement needs a New Chief for sure to protect its citizens,answer the 911 calls for Gods sake!!These people Pay your Salary!

Thanks for the info. I was considering buying a home in this area, you just re-affirmed my knowledge of "You get what you pay for." Prices are lower around there, and some beautiful land. But I dont want to be constantly worried.
