Hi Chris, I really enjoyed this series and the way you explained everything. As a new Well owner and having a new Well drilled this year ($$$) and also having a low producing Well (for 3 homes), storage was our solution (as you had indicated as an option in your second video in this series). Ours is a 1400 gallon storage tank and the concern of running out of water is now gone. Even with smaller footprint tanks - say a 300 gallon tank... would give a homeowner a lot of options and the expense of drilling a 2nd well could be put towards a storage tank and booster pump. My 2cents of course. As it was for me, this Well and pump stuff can be quite intimidating and your explanatory videos and other folks commenting helps everyone. Thanks again Chris, I've learned a lot from your videos!

Thank-you for your videos. We have a low producing GUDI dug well cluster, 25' deep in Ontario Canada. Two buildings with a total of 10 units. As available the Well Pump draws from the wells to send through a sediment filter into a 1000 gal tank (via float switches & 24V relays, if there is water in the wells, and the 1000 in not full.). We also have a 3000 gal tank to store treated water. If the 3000 calls for water, and the 1000 is not empty (all via float switch(s)/relay(s)) the treatment pump draws water from the 1000, then through softeners, 3 stage sediment filters (25/5/1 Absolute), Turbidity analyzer, UV (Primary), volume meter, Chlorine injector (Secondary) then into the 3000. The Distribution Pump(s) draws from the 3000 to pressurize the distribution plumbing only if the 3000 low float switch is not down. All three pumping stages have their own pressure tanks. Now I just need to sketch up the wiring diagram so that someone other than me understands what is what... lol My question, We experience low yields mostly in the fall months to the point of ordering hauled water occasionally; what are your thoughts on over pumping a dug well?

Awesome Video's You talk about something i was looking for. Which is something to shut off the pump if it isn't pumping water. I live in Calif. and my well last week i was using the hose wetting down the dust and i knew I shouldn't be doing it But i did and after about 30 min. the water pressure drop and it was only coming out about 3 feet from the hose so i turn off the hose and check the pump it was running so i went inside for about an hour came back out check the pump and it was still running, so I shut down the power for 20 hours then turn on the power the pump came right on and i did something for about 15 min. then check the pump and it filled my tank with water and shut off. So I cut my water usage to a few gallons a day and when i take my shower i may use about 10 gals. Its been working for a week until today I check on the pump because i wanted to replace the gauge and pressure switch I know this won't help but I can't read the gauge and the switch is very old. Anyways when I check the pump it was running but not pumping water and i don't know how long it had been running. I don't want to burn up the pump. 4 or so years ago I was talking to the service people and they said it would cost me 2500 - 3500 dollars to pull and replace it. I have some well people coming Monday to check my well... But what switch do i need to save my pump? and any advice that I should ask the Well people? Thank you for any help...

You mentioned tracking the water level over time. Is there an affordable tool for measuring the water level? (My pump is 230' down and the spools I see on amazon are pretty expensive)

Hi so I have a gallon a minute well with a 60' 3" pipe. Waters only 20' down but bottom 20' is collapsed so from the jet pump we have the 2 lines going down to the ventre from there it goes to a 20' pipe to the foot valve. Before this year we ran what ever our well guys did but it's still one thing after another always loosing prime but we don't have money. However we did get a new 1hp 4gal a minute Jet pump not knowing the well was only a 1gal a minute. Redid all the lines and fittings. (by the way thanks you were vary helpful on that) we got 2 pressure tanks one is a bladder and the other is a non. Everything worked great till we ran prime out. So we now have a 250gal tote that we plan on using and have a pretty good idea of what I want to do but not sure so here it goes. Jet pump to tote than use on-line pump to pressure tanks to house. Thinking of using float valves and maybe a cycle stop sensor dry/run monitor or something like it. Is there anything else like it that maybe cheeper? And do you have any advice that could help? Please and thank you

I just need to find a 1/2 Gal/min pump for 100' well - I'm using a regular 230v 1/2 horse well pump with a .5 gal/min flow restrictor, it works but I would like to find a pump that uses less power. Anyone got any suggestions?

I'm a farmer and have a unique situation that we are looking to possibly utilize a storage tank but there's a few questions I have. Anyway we could talk?
